Hey there, looks like you just wandered in. Why not have a look around and stay for a while, maybe even start your own adventure, if you're into that.

    "A status update will go up when the embers begin to drop!"

    I am not a fan of this. I started in Louise Hill today in case we got a quest there or something. Why can't we know when the embers will drop? Now I have to risk doing the dailies and having them added later today. Or I have to skip a town / adventure for 4 hours to get an extra town hop to go back if they do get added later.

    Nevermind, says later today.

    Will there be notifs for when new tasks are available?

    How does one accumulate 30k points in 2 weeks when the spring event had 3 weeks?

    Better get started~

    I have to agree with people's opinions on staff members participating. I was also here during the beta festival and it was disheartening to see staff members participate and reach top spots.

    Please let your users have fun and reach for the top spots, otherwise it feels like regular users have no chance at all.

    TBH I don't mind the staff taking part - as long as they abide by the same rules as the rest of us. There are no rewards for reaching the top anymore, so why wouldn't they be allowed?
  • Villager Grimling (#15239) 21 Aug 2020, 12:58 am
    Snuff (#797) sorry if you didn’t want to be pinged - personally, I think it’s about setting a precedent? Like, are they promising to never do a competitive event again? Plus, I kind of see it like giveaways and such in real life: if you work for the company, you’re not allowed to participate. As someone who has done events and such on other sites, it’s accepted that the staff organizing it can’t participate - which can suck, but that’s part of the job you take on. I don’t even mind if staff gets these items anyway, it’s just about the precedent of it to me ‘v’

    Grimling (#15239) yeah I get your point. Raffles, giveaways and contests are competitive in nature so staff participating would take rewards away from regular folks, I assumed that there's no harm done since there are no rewards to compete for. BUT I just realised that the leaderboard can be an important part of the event for some people. So staff participating are taking away places on the leaderboard.

    a good compromise of all this staff stuff seems like having them not show up on the leaderboard but still participate in the event for rewards if they want to

    It seems that the embers are now dropping, but I think for the next event and those that come after, it would be better to set the festival items to drop with the start of the event unless notified otherwise prior to the event. For those who have a limited/certain timeframe to play DV (especially those who play around rollover), it would be a shame to miss a day-worth fest items ;w;

    Woooo it's here!! I'm so excited and the prize items are so lovely!!!

    Also seeing some discontent about a staff member participating and I just wanted to say I think it's kinda nice actually? It's just a reminder that we're all here to play this lovely game together!!
  • Villager Dottler (#7856) 21 Aug 2020, 1:39 am
    Super excited for this!! And I hope the competitive aspect is gone for good! It feels nice to not feel like i have to spend an absurd amount of time constantly checking and doing quests throughout the day to even get a *chance* at getting special items regardless of my end score just because some users managed to spend more time than others.

    They should just fix the leaderboards listings. Allow the ranks to tie and stop sorting by user ID... or something....
