I'm having a lot of fun with the tasks and event so far (and the items look so fun and refreshing), but I think the points or reward tiers might need some re-balancing unless the future unreleased tasks will be providing considerable point leverage (which, they might but we just don't know yet).

With the tasks we have right now, I believe this is the total available points possible in a 24 hour period:

    -Have fun with a pet (5pts) x72/day = 360
    -Gather Refreshments (25pts) x12/day = 300
    -Gather Embers (35pts) x12/day = 420
    -Gather Decor (75pts) x4/day = 300
    -Help Bearnard (60pts) x6/day = 360
    -Help Buli (70pts) x6/day = 420

We're only missing 2 additional tasks so far, so let's assume they each award an additional possible 420 points/day (which is the highest amount of points a task can award so far). This becomes the max amount of points a player can achieve per day:

    Daily total (event total)
    Day 1: 1380 (1380)
    Day 2: 1740 (3120)
    Day 3: 2160 (5280)
    Day 4: 2580 (7860)
    Day 5: 3000 (10860)
    Day 6-15: 3000 (40860)

This is for a 24 hour period, not stopping for sleep, work, school, or anything else. Even assuming a player can only be on for 12 hours a day (which is still a considerable amount of time in my opinion) a player would only reach half the maximum, so ~20k points. I think 12 hours of playing a game for 15 days straight should be enough dedication to award a player the highest tier of rewards but with the current set-up they would only achieve gold tier. Even if the next two tasks award 80 and 90 pts respectively instead of 70 that only adds an extra 1-2k points total at the end of the event (not enough to bump a 12 hour/day player up from Gold to Elite).

I'm still having a lot of fun and I REALLY appreciate the new travel boon, but I am concerned about people's sleep schedules over the next two weeks.

(I tried to double check my math but it's almost 2am for me so if I need to correct something or edit pls let me know and I'll update.)

Thank you so much for making it free to travel to LH! heartred.gif

this is ridiculous. people are losing sleep over this terrible event. people are stressed and tired because of an online petsite event? and staff wants people to spend money on this game?? i cannot believe that staff, in the midst of everything going on in the world right now, expects people to devote their lives and give up sleep and ignore important obligations if you want to get the highest tiers in an event in an online petsite. are you kidding me?

staff could not make it more clear that they hate us if they tried. 'oh dont worry, you still cant get the highest tier unless you harm yourself physically and mentally, but now you get some free town hops so really you should be thanking us!!'

So far, I have been able to collect 1200 points and this is during weekend. I am working a ten hours job from mon-fri where I cannot access DV at all.

I cannot deny that I am a little sad to see that I probably won't even be able to get to bronze tier...

“ I've gotta say I actually don't like how this event is operating. It encourages players to stay online for unhealthy amounts of time. :< I hope you guys reconsider the way future events work.”

Given that the admin known as god/#4 has not left the Top Ten of the leaderboard for 2 solid days, going into day 3 now, I feel like all of these pleas for game/life balance are going to go unheard. ☹️

While I like the mechanics behind the event, the prize tiers require so many points that they fail to motivate me, especially since the lower tiers' prizes are kind of underwhelming in relation to how much work you've got to put into getting even those
  • Villager Bangrull (#33742) 23 Aug 2020, 3:33 am
And now I realized that the big number next to each tier is actually not how many points you need, but part of the prize - that's very confusing and misleading. Also, I think I'll just stop participating in the event, because I'm just going to get stuff I don't like for way too much effort.

I strongly dislike that this event requires people to adjust their lives to the game. It's highly disrespectful of people, it's stressful and unhealthy.
I already find the playground games to be highly unrewarding in regards to gain vs time spent playing the games.

There's a difference between trying to make items "exclusive" and making a game satisfying to play. This isn't rewarding at all, and as pointed by others, it's stressful to try and figure out if the game is worth the time required to play it without knowing what the mechanics are/are going to be.

Evolutive mechanisms should be funny but this is mostly frustrating. Please, at least remove the timers for the daily quest errands.
  • Villager Tjarah (#33813) 23 Aug 2020, 5:07 am
I really appreciate that the staff is paid to make this game and, in a way, to play it. But the rest of us have lives and this game should be an outlet, not a source of stress, with events that become obstacles to playing the game in a lighthearted way.

This really stirs the gambling nerve: on one hand, the goals are nearly unachievable, but on the other hand, there's a slim chance to get there. And Fear Of Missing Out is something we've been conditioned into since the rise of social media. And it's not a good thing at all.

Please, please, think of people's well-being! This game has appealed to a lot of marginalized people who already are likely to have higher stress levels than average. I was really hoping that the game mechanics would also reflect respect, not just for diverse identities, but also for the real people who hold these identities. So far this hasn't been my experience of the game :(

I think this event is challenging and fun. I started to get a bit bored of DV, but this actually made me come back and play some more. It doesn't give me stress at all, because I can decide for myself if I want to give up my sleep (which I don't). I'm just a casual player hoping to get gold tier, but we'll see. :p The amount of points in each tier seems alright to me. It's boring if everything is too easy to get, rare items are fun - and I'm sure DV will give us enough opportunities to gain points without sacrificing our sleep. Even if somehow it didn't work out that well, I wouldn't even care - it's just a game and their first event. Can't be perfect, but they and we can learn from the experience. ^.^ Thank you for this event and thank you for listening to us. ♥

Thank you for the free town hops. I still don't see why the 'help' tasks are on timers since you can only do them 7 times a day anyway. It just needlessly drags out dailies, but this does restore a little bit of my lost hope. Here's hoping the unnecessary timers will be addressed soon!
  • Villager tooth (#1568) 23 Aug 2020, 7:29 am
I urge the staff to think about what they are asking of their userbase. If the intention was to create an event that would require a user to log into Dappervolk every 15/20 minutes to interact with their pet to be able to achieve the Elite tier, then please reconsider your calculations.
  • Villager Shasura (#21952) 23 Aug 2020, 7:51 am
I hope you take the users' feedback into consideration.
The next event better actually be fun and respect people's time, because this one has just been an absolute disappointment.

You also should not have a staff member either obviously botting for the leaderboards, or sacrificing health just for the sake of it. This is an incredibly bad impression and it doesn't help the fact that there are hundreds of tickets left still waiting to be answered while the only thing the admin has on their mind is to be #1 on the leaderboard. This is childish.
  • Villager Ingi (#42997) 23 Aug 2020, 8:10 am
Seems pretty meh because of the timers gatekeeping most users and the ridiculous number of points needed to reach elite tier, though I still appreciate the dev's effort in making this event. Still wish they thought this through more and will listen to user feedback though...
  • Villager scrub (#20092) 23 Aug 2020, 8:41 am
Agreed with the other comments, this event could have been better thought out -- punishing users for choosing sleep over dv (or at least we all think so -- hopefully the next tasks balance things out!) and stressing a lot of people out about it.

Still a major thank you for making the town hop to Louise hill free! These live updates are so appreciated :D
