I just love being stuck in louise hill if I want to participate. I really feel like it should be a free town hop like peddlers port for the event so we can do our dailies and not just waste all the hops going back :/

Are you guys telling me I have to stay in Louise Hill all day just to do this stupid event? Every four hours I do one of Bearnard's seven dailies? When doing dailies in Louise Hill takes thirty minutes at most, and I'm still working hard to unlock Idra's shop in Silvie's Mine? Are you joking? This is incredibly stupid. The event hub should just accept that we've helped Bearnard for the day and allow us to hit accept on the task seven times that day. I'm not going to do anything else on Dappervolk today except check the event hub every now and then. I'll be staying in Louise Hill all day, because why waste a hop until I've finished questing in the town I'm in? I only have three hops and there are five towns. Hops are a stupid enough limitation; this is just ridiculous.

the timer based system for event quests sucks. this event is not fun, in fact so far its even anxiety inducing. you cant expect your players to sit and fret over timers all day, to ignore other obligations and miss out on sleep to hit the higher tiers. its rude, disrespectful, and unhealthy.

if you want these tasks to only be completed a few times each day, then why not do something like 'this task can be completed x amount of times each day,' like every other repeatable/daily task on site? why not have a list of tasks that can be done only once but give a bunch more points? there's literally no reason to have made this event so bad and unpleasant. it seems like every new feature just makes me lose faith in this game more. i thought this would be fun, but i was wrong

I'm pretty sure this popped up somewhere, but I really hope the bernard event becomes A) Something similar to those "gather ember" quests so that users who've completed bernards quest can just push done 7 times that day, or B) If staff REALLY wants to keep the bernard event a 4 hour interval one, at least make Louise Hill cost 0 town hops during the event. Fingers crossed on FAST updates, because I'm staying in LH all day today and well... it's not making this game enjoyable. Hopefully I won't have to do that tomorrow...

Also really wish the future events turn out to be less grinding, and present the possibility (to casual players as well) that you can reach a certain tier even without having to give up sleep and etc. For now it just looks impossible to reach. I know there will be more quest added, and I've heard other players say that those quests will make tiers "possible", but it's kinda depressing to just hope for the best when you can't really expect much at the start of the fest hype :/

Although I am enjoying the concept of the event, I'm somewhat worried on how to even reach a tier higher than bronze. I consider myself fairly active and I can certainly hop on to do major point rewarding tasks, but at the moment, it seems impossible to get to the top tier. I assumed a bit of elbow grease would have to go into getting that tier, but not all my waking moments.

I think the timer for the Help Bearnard task should be removed. This is a task you can only do 7 times in a day anyway (or with 6 turn ins because there aren't 28 hours in a day). There is already a daily limit on this task, why does there need to be a timer to drag it out through an entire day and force players to sit in Louise Hill instead of enjoying the rest of the game?

I was one of those "wait for the extra tasks, I'm sure the event will be balanced to be possible without ruining your sleep" people yesterday. I was legitimately furious when I woke up and saw the 4 hour timer on the Bearnard task. I've spent a decent amount of money supporting DV and was pretty excited for the event and considering spending more. But now seeing how poorly designed everything is, it's making me reconsider spending.

I'm trying to stay positive but yo - this event isn't looking so hot. At least for people with lives (no offense to those staying up but a lot of people have jobs and school). I think adding Bearnard as one of the task was a bad idea because you can only do his quests 7 times a day :/ Why did you guys think that would go smoothly? If you're going to add quest givers to summer tasks at least give us more points to do them, or create a whole 'nother set of quests just for this event.

Like......I get it. Not everyone is going to get every item ever and people who spend the time and effort into games should definitely get the highest rewards. But the FIRST tier is unreachable to a lot of people. When doing events for games there should be something that anyone can get, even if it's one, cool item. Giving us all a "you tried" achievement just for participating kind of sucks NGL.

I can't say for sure since all the tasks have not been released yet, but as it stands, the elite tier is almost unattainable. I would recommend perhaps giving some thought as to how balanced everything is. People should not have to go without sleep to attain the top prize. Going by the beta festival, the top 25% got the top reward. I would be shocked if 25% of participants attained elite tier going by this rate. Again, I do not have all the information but please give some thought into this. Please make these elite prizes are attainable for the people who put a lot of effort into the event during the day, not just the day and the night. I make sure I get almost every trade when I am awake, checking back every 20 minutes to get those extra 5 points. At the current rate, I will get gold. If my effort isn't elite, then you have absurd standards for your userbase. Your power comes from your userbase. I ask that you give us respect and put some consideration into the content you expect us to consume.

I’m not as good at wording as everyone else, but I do want to put my thoughts here too.

I think, bluntly, that the level of dedication needed to get elite is ridiculous and actively encouraging people to not rest properly and spend every possible moment here is honestly not right. Of course there will always be people that are that dedicated or simply have insomnia, but it is not right to encourage that and have the bar set so high as if that’s something people should be doing.
As a normal human who sleeps about 8 hours a night and has other things to do, be it work or otherwise it is blatantly impossible for me to get anywhere near elite. I’ll be lucky if I even get bronze. If I remember right, this was a similar issue in beta. As far as I can tell there has been no reworking done to the seasonal events. It is as if you, the developers want the general player base to feel inadequate.

I also feel like the progress bar is. Redundant. I understand we will be unlocking a quest, but does the quest have a reward? What’s the point of the quest aside from potential story? You don’t need to spoil it but I do think being transparent on the reward is important. Especially these “overtime” rewards that we also know nothing about. It feels worthless to work together towards something as a community and not actually know what we would be getting.
This isn’t even touching on how the tiers completely remove the whole idea of working together. Perhaps it would have been better to unlock the items at bar percentages instead. And gain currency rewards for your total points? I believe that would have made the event feel more like a communal effort.

Again, I’m not the best at wording things, so I do hope what I’ve said makes sense. I’m not trying to attack this game, I very much wanted to enjoy this and play the event with everyone.
But I feel as if my efforts are completely wasted because my life doesn’t revolve around this game, (And it shouldn’t. You should be acknowledging that humans need to sleep and have work ect, and shouldn’t spend every waking moment here.) and I have no idea what the potential rewards for succeeding site wide would even be, so I don’t feel encouraged at all, knowing I will miss out on almost every reward and the possibility of no extra rewards even if we reach 100%.

is anyone else under the impression that they will not even make it to the first tier lmao
  • Villager tooth (#1568) 22 Aug 2020, 8:24 pm
I remember now. This event is what made me quit the beta.
  • Villager tooth (#1568) 22 Aug 2020, 8:44 pm
I should probably explain my previous comment. The time commitment required for this event discouraged me to a point where I did not want to play DV if events were going to be timer based

I have a full time job. With this event feeling impossible, I don't know why I should even bother.

I would also like to echo the complaint of being town locked to Louise Hill because of the timer for the Bearnard quest.
  • Villager Angel (#38) 22 Aug 2020, 10:22 pm
Perhaps in the future having some tasks time locked and some allowed a set number of times each day without a time lock between completing is the way to go; that way people who are on limited time can still achieve points to reach at least bronze or silver tier. Also, the prior event (Spring Festivities 2018) went a week longer according to the wiki entry (don't remember on my own because it's been a couple years), and having an additional week is probably more help for most people compared to having 5 instead of 4 tasks (with how the points are allocated) because of people having different schedules.
  • Villager Astraleaf (#17183) 22 Aug 2020, 11:35 pm
Thanks for the Bearnard task; I didn't have time to start this event right when it started, so I'm hoping that will help me reach the Elite tier goal. The icon pictures for the items look good, but I hear they might have huge black outlines? I hate it when items have noticeable, distracting outlines. If this is true, please reconsider. XD

tbh the more i have to deal with this poorly-designed and unfun event the more i think about quitting the site. kinda wish there was a way to get refunded for the kickstarter now... this isnt what i was signing up for

get rid of the timers. the last thing we all need in these trying times is more stress
