I do want to say though that the lack of explanation is really bugging me, the complete silence aside from two minor changes (one which was completely unnecessary- poor scoreboard) feels uncomfortable. Even just a post telling us players “Please don’t worry so much the next tasks will have much higher point drops,” and addressing the issue of making it seem like players had to play constantly, would have helped ease everything and a lot of people, myself included would have felt far better.
The removal of the scoreboard too, is something I feel discomfort about, instead of addressing the situation (potentially explaining why the staff member in question was “winning”, be that auto to check points, or they are just that dedicated, have no permission that would allow them to spawn points ect / just plain removing all staff from the scoreboard, giving them their own), you decided to hide the scores. Which honestly does not look good, no matter what the intended intention was it seems suspicious.
Honestly I think there’s improvements that can be made to this type of event but most of the issues boils down to lack of communication.
I don’t hate this game, I like it a lot. It’s gorgeous and the world interests me. I want to see Dappervolk succeed. But there’s definitely issues and a complete lack of acknowledgement from the staff just rubs me the wrong way.
That's pretty neat about the overtime rewards. :o
Also:
"Your current tier is SILVER TIER.
You've accumulated 10315 points."
So yeah, I just misunderstood the 10 minute update thing... because I thought it upgraded to Bronze instantly, so I figured it'd upgrade to Silver instantly. But I guess it just was closer to the 10 minute mark when it upgraded to Bronze. >.>
people are upset because users were losing sleep, developing anxiety, and freaking out for DAYS with no communication from staff other than louise hill cost no town hops and no more leaderboard? mostly all people wanted was some sort of assurance that elite wasnt literally an impossible task, or the other tiers werent impossible for people with jobs/school, as it seemed that way for DAYS. it would not have been difficult to release a status update saying "hey, sorry to worry everyone but the future tasks will be higher in point values with less intensive timers!" that would have solved a lot of issues people were facing. users made themselves sick trying to keep up with what seemed an impossible event. just would have been nice for people to have not had to go through that during an event that is supposed to be FUN. that wasnt fun. that was a not great experience for me, and for others.
It’s not a competition like last year, *everyone* that hits 30k will win the elite tier prize.
Nothing of this feels rewarding, usually events have some sort of "gacha" element at least, little prizes dropping all along, keeping it rewarding and fun. And you can get cool stuff even participating for a short while. Here, if you don't do the whole event, you don't even get to pick what clothes part you'd like!
Im thankful for this response because this is the second time now that users have had concerns about the site, a large number of users, and DV Staff has not responded or given clarity. It's actually a bit disrespectful to community at this point because yes, the town hops to Louise Hill was an issue but the issue of staff not commenting at all/ignoring community concerns and worries rubs me the wrong way. I would never discredit that DV staff isn't working on other issues but the community wanted some sort of reassurance or status to lighten their worries about the difficulties in the event. Did they get any? No. Has this happened before? Yes. I'm extremely sure staff reads the announcement comments and just is told not to say anything because if they were allowed, we would likely have gotten a response by now.
*note: I make said speculation being ex staff from former avi sites.
I just wanted to comment on the complain about how repetetive and tedious the tasks are. Uhmm, have we been playing the same game? XD Everything is about the grind in this game haha
I mean from the main quest to the dailies about building affection and everything is kinda doing the same thing over and over again?
Anyways good work staff!
What concerns me most is the lack of response from the team, despite the changes having been made. I realize that it's the first event and there are bound to be some issues and confusion, but I feel as if much of this could have been avoided from day 1 simply by outlining what the upcoming tasks would be worth, or even as simple as posting a small announcement to acknowledge the concerns of the userbase.
In the future, if these many complaints are brought up about a given feature or event it would likely be a good idea to, at the very least, confirm that you, the staff, have seen the complaints and are looking into it, or just assuring the userbase that, in this case, it is possible once everything is fully released rather than remaining silent.
Nevertheless, I appreciate the town hop change being made so quickly, and the overtime rewards system is proving to be my favourite aspect of the event. I'd love to see more aspects of events in the future that encourage community interaction such as this.
The time interval tasks in this event are tedious and repetitive. Even when the numbers were crunched, it still appears that to reach the "elite" tier, you have to log on repeatedly over 14hrs of the day, every day, for the entire length of the event. This is promoting extremely unhealthy game play.
If Dappervolk continues to promote unhealthy time interval events in the future then you can count me out.
I'm also very disappointed in staff's lack of communication. It was very disrespectful to watch the community voice concerns and suffer for days without staff acknowledgement.
