I agree with others who have not been enjoying this style of event. It definitely feeds into online addiction kind of game play for people (like myself) who want top tier. I've neglected chores, exercise, and responsibilities so far and lost some sleep too because I'm so terrified to be away from the computer. I'm not normally like this as I don't play this style of game on other sites. Kind of an eye opener on how game addiction can start.

Staff, please don't launch future events in this style. It's much better when the tasks aren't time-based and players can have a life outside of DV.

I have to agree. With nearly everything.
I was not thrilled with how little you could earn within the first few days of getting points at the beginning of the event, and I definitely lost sleep trying to catch every timer because I was at work for the first day of the event and was terrified I would have destroyed all chances at getting those beautiful wings before even understanding what I missed.
First week in, I'm much happier with the higher point tasks, but even they weren't all I hoped for. My brain found hoping for a near guaranteed 1k points per day with one task very comforting but the best we got is 600 oh well. However I am still not letting myself go back to a healthy routine because gOD I want the w I N G S.
Claiming system sucks and I cri over lost point.
Pre-travel boon sucked to work around.
Also I have like 150 something embers and counting because we just cant do anything with them?? I am praying they are at least converted into points to be counted at the end of the event otherwise ????? What a waste??? Not even an event store? We cant even trade these things!
Long story short devs it really looks like you need a better pr system for addressing issues and several tweaks to the game event you are making everyone angy and tired.
I'm gonna cry if I go through all this sleep loss and bad life choices and STILL dont get elite because of work

No offense, but there’s literally 7 days left and I am at Gold status and I have a full time job PLUS this started while I was on vacation with my family so I wasn’t using electronics during the day. I sleep 6 hours every night (cause work) and the last few days I overslept 12-13 hours and I still have... So many points that I know for a fact I can get to elite. If I can make 10k points in 2 days while not being on it religiously, then I can get the remaining 10k in 6 days.

You guys are thinking too hard and acting high and mighty cause this is a new site. Stop with all the “this is a gross practice hur hur” No, you just don’t have self control apparently?? It’s a game. If you don’t get elite because you don’t try, then you don’t. Even with little effort, you can get elite easily.

This site is still new and admin/mods are still figuring out how to do things and you guys (not the people i pinged) are demanding them to fit YOUR needs. Please, stop being so entitled and give actual constructive criticism. This community has been the most annoying with the complaining and demanding the admins to bend to their every call. It’s ridiculous!

Anyways, try your best, don’t sit on the computer 24/7 cause someone on dv told you thats the only way to win, and have fun :) There’s 6 days left. If you’re like me and have 20k (or even 10k) points, you will TOTALLY make it to elite.

Just found out you can alchemize them!! (the things u get from this event omg) I am not sure if that really helps your case, but its free alchemizing fodder basically.

Ok, time for my criticism on this event.

While it’s not entirely fun, since it’s mostly grinding, I do enjoy the prizes. 🤤

I do agree the countdowns and things for tasks is unneeded, and the need to click them to even DO them is kinda silly as well. I would rather just do it and then claim the points rather than click, do task, come back and claim points. I sometimes forget which one I claimed and my brain goes into autodrive and I do something else.

I, and almost everyone agrees, that the countdowns and slowly showing the tasks did give off the illusion that we won’t make enough points regardless of how we play and get on. I panicked the first day UNTIL I re-read the announcement! Obviously a lot of people didn’t read the announcement, but yeah.

Having instructions on the event page might help others as well!

Making the hatch a pet one 1000 points because omfg it’s sooo uncool to do it every 24 hours for that less of points. I hatch like 3 turniplings a day and I hold it until the 24hours is up lol.

But, I do agree with others when they say they’re stressing over this. The time based unlocks do feel like time is the enemy and you need to watch for when it is unlocked to do it so you don’t miss out on points, but I feel like it just created an illusion of failure for a lot of people.

Appreciate the event and cute prizes and hope you guys take some of the stuff said by everyone and put it into your next event! Don’t feel too stressed about all the demands aaahh.

Some things I just want to point out about this event that realizing made it easier for me to do it:
    1) you only have to be online roughly once every four hours since the timers are by time of day and not from when the last timer was set.
    2) the “have fun with a pet” task really isn’t nessecary. I haven’t done it for multiple days and today I’m going to hit gold (I’m averaging over 2k a day without it *and* getting sleep)
    3) I know in the beginning they could have communicated more, but as I think about it I understand why they didn’t. They told us there would be new tasks, so we knew something was coming. But this game heavily relies on not spoiling things. I would check in at rollover excited to see what the new task was, and that made it feel a lot less like grinding the entire event.
    4) I’m personally really thankful for the timers and for how it is set up. The other site I play just has 20 minute timers that went from where you last got one and it was very stressful to try and get enough tokens to trade in. I like how this one it’s set point values that you can calculate how much you need to get each day to get a certain tier. Plus, if elite was easier to get it wouldn’t have as much value. From what I gathered the spring bloom only went to the top 25% so I imagine that’s the goal they had in mind for how many people hit 30k.

I dunno. I didn’t have internet the first 3.5 days of the event, so all I could do was really sit and watch the comments on my cellular data and yet here I am at gold with 5 days left so I’ll probably get elite unless something weird happens and I haven’t been damaging my health or school work (because I’m also a full time college student). I know this is long. And probably unnessacary. But I just thought I’d put my thoughts out there and see if maybe it helps anyone see things from a new perspective.

Nekomimi (#23461) Can you please give a detailed point break down of how you made 10k in 2 days without "being on religiously"? It would be helpful to others to know how to make 5k a day without slaving away. (Ex: what times did you log on and what tasks did you do to achieve this.)
  • Villager Valen (#36144) 29 Aug 2020, 11:10 am
Nekomimi (#23461) It's unkind to put people down who are struggling and then spread false information. It's actually impossible to make 10k in 2 days.

If you look at the table in the comments 5 or so pages back, the maximum points you can make per day if you literally did every single task over a 24 hour period without sleeping is 3360 points. If you get 8hrs of sleep the maximum (meaning you do every single task over a 16 hour time span) is 2665 points per day.

just because you have a certain experience doesnt mean that will be the same for everyone. its important to validate all viewpoints and opinions. those that are enjoying the event should be heard just as much as those who are not. nobody is putting down people who are enjoying the event, so why are those that are enjoying it making a big deal if a lot of us arent? our feelings and struggles are valid, just as yours. we all read the announcement. many of us felt it didnt have enough clarity. thats valid, just as some felt it did. it is constructive criticism to discuss our feelings about this event lol its not like we want dv to fail. we want to enjoy this site. were not. nobody is attacking staff or anything lol we just want to understand why these choices were made, and hopefully our feedback and change events moving forward. but we cant know, because we are not getting any communication.

I dont support misleading information and false ones at that. It was proven by multiple members that it was not possible to make that many points. Support the event and be satisfied with it, that's great BUT don't do this kind of lying.
  • Villager Orca (#13204) 29 Aug 2020, 12:53 pm
Nekomimi (#23461) How many tasks did you complete to reach gold tier?

I'm about to reach gold tier and it took 530 tasks over 8.5 days. That averages to 62 tasks per day which has been a massive time commitment.

You have to remember too that it took 5 days to unlock all 8 quests with the last two being the highest in points. So for the first 3 days the community floundered away with small point frequent tasks.

The first few days you could also not attain or reasonably attain the 2000 points a day needed for elite tier which caused stress and panic. It also meant that each day you didn't gain 2000 points, in the following days you had to get higher than that to reach the elite tier.

Staff communication was also lacking. Telling staff what went wrong is very constructive because they know what not to do next time and which parts of the event weren't enjoyable. There have been suggestions for improvement and different event model suggestions as well as compliments on what users did like. I think as a whole the community has done a good job in conveying the pros and cons of this event to staff.
  • Villager Valen (#36144) 29 Aug 2020, 1:36 pm
Regarding what Orca was saying about the challenging first few days...

When the leader board was up, a staff member was doing tasks essentially 24/7 which gave the impression to myself and likely others that an unrealistic time commitment was needed to reach elite tier.
  • Villager Orca (#13204) 29 Aug 2020, 2:36 pm
Musicality (#39022) I think I must have read your comment wrong, but it sounded like you didn't play the first 3.5 days, then averaged 2k a day the next 5 days and got to gold tier? Did you mean silver? Or did I totally misunderstand? I probably got it wrong, lol, but wanted to check what you meant since my own experience getting to gold was very very different.

Would it still be possible for me to get elite tier? I have 2800 points.
