End of July 2020 Update!
Hello everyone! We've got a new update for you on a bunch of upcoming things as we near the end of the month!
Ever since the site launched, we've been very excited for players to finally get to experience the Guilds system that we've invested quite a bit of time into developing! However, there have been some new and unanticipated bugs discovered recently onsite that directly tie into core Guild functions, which would ultimately be game-breaking if left unchecked. Since these bugs tie into major aspects of Guild functionality, we've made the tough decision to temporarily close Guild creation until we can make sure it's in fully working order. Some of these new bugs include:
- Quest Task Tracking Issues - Directly impacts the guild upgrade and leveling system.
- Forum Permissions Issues - Impacts the guild forum experience.
- Live Chat Issues - New issues with server routing have impacted the live chat functionality.
- Misc Smaller Issues - Ie. Tooltip/mouseover glitching, 404 errors occurring after various updates since launch, etc.
The Guild system is a major undertaking with a great deal of coding intricacies, so we'd like to give our developers the time they need to make sure that we are putting our best foot forward with this feature for everyone to be able to enjoy to its fullest potential. Thank you so much for your patience, we can't wait to see all of the amazing guild communities that players will create!
TIME FRAME
We're anticipating at least a couple of weeks from now to get Guilds fixed up, but we'll be working as hard as we can to get it to you as quickly as possible. We'll be updating everyone as soon as possible with as much advance notice as we can, once we know when we can re-open Guild creation!
In the meantime, we'll be creating a Guilds subforum for our community to plan out their guilds in advance. Our dedicated moderators will be assisting in moving existing Guild threads over to this subforum for a more concentrated browsing and hang out area!
GUILDS FAQ
We're also releasing a Guilds FAQ with info that we know most of you have been interested to know. Visit the Guilds FAQ here!
We'll be starting a new riddle contest during the coming month, where everyone in the community is invited to submit their most creative Adventuring riddles themed around our first Adventuring location: Louise Hill!
Stay tuned for the full contest details, coming soon!
All riddles that are selected will become permanent additions to Adventuring, and their authors will receive a Turnip currency prize. All entrants will have a chance to win some additional raffled prizes as well!
We are also excited to announce that we have a planned Summer Event that will take place some time in August! A news update with more details about the event will be released approximate a week before it will be set to begin.
As a bit of a sneak peak, we will be bringing back our cooperative/competitive event type from our beta testing phase, now featuring new adjustments based on player feedback and a brand new storyline in time for summer! We have a feeling you'll be seeing a few of your favorite early town NPC's in this event — we hope everyone will enjoy it when the time comes!
The Mothlike items will be retiring at the end of July 2020, to be changed over to August's theme along with our planned adjustments to Pai's shop and Premium perk additions!
All monthly shop items will eventually be very rarely obtainable through a new feature which will be released a few months down the line.
That's all for this update!
We're working hard behind the scenes to keep everything running
smoothly and to bring out more content! Take care and stay safe!

What's all this talk of things not being fair or being too much work? The whole idea of making something like this is based on cooperation and forging a way forward for the collective. No one said being in charge was going to be easy. That's the burden of leadership.
I'd do it for my guild right now if we had enough people interested in it; I've been working every day on my Affection gate and I'm not the leader of the main guild, plus I have enough Potatoes to lend to the cause.
I'm sure you've got plenty of people willing to shoulder some of the burden and open a second guild / waiting room / hangout. ^^
It's not a time zone thing -- By "First 15 people" I just meant pick fifteen names (like from a random number generator) from the application pool. (My wording gets a little wonky at the early morning hours.) Give yourself a week to get all applications in. Not sure what could be more fair than that.
It's true that we don't know what the upper limit will be, but isn't part of the fun discovering these things when the feature comes out? :)
We have differing opinions, then. I know being a leader is not easy but still the devs seem to want guilds to be both hard to create and small to start, and that is going to drive people away. I understand being difficult to start up to prevent spam ones from coming in, but in that case why make them just 20 people to start? Especially knowing there are big guilds out there with way more people than that who are basically waiting on the affection gates to get started in the official on site capacity (and now the delay in opening them, which I fully understand). Also if it's supposed to be based on cooperation and being a collective, why are the affection requirements squarely on the leader and not split between the founders? Same for the potatoes, though at least you can donate potatoes to the cause if need be but you can't donate affection.
This site is supposed to be *fun*, and the guilds especially more so, and putting in a system that makes things more difficult for the leaders when dealing with the people who want to be part of their guilds is not fun. The devs are making an intentional gate that is going to cause problems; the leaders didn't know there would be any kind of starting member limit before, so now they have to figure out the best way to pick the 15 people who get in first beyond the founders and then deal with the fallout of that choice. Now if people want to make their guilds invite only and deal with that then that's one thing, but this is something that's being forced upon people which is no fun.
And no, it's not fun to discover features when they come out, not for something like this. It needs to be laid out plainly exactly how the thing works so there's no confusion and no scrambling. We already know exactly what it takes to establish a guild, so why can't we know exactly what the limits are? Discovering if there's a max level the guild can reach is fun, trying to figure out if an upper limit for number of members exists and what it is to make sure there's space for everyone in the guild is not. There's too much left up to question because the wording isn't clear and no one has made a guild yet and wont' be able to for some time, and that leaves myself (and I'm sure others) uncomfortable and worried about how this is going to play out when guilds open.
It's good that guilds need to start out small and work their way up to more userslots. I know me and a bunch of friends are working towards a guild ourselves too, really excited for it to be created!
If it's going to negatively impact site performance, which is what this update seems to imply, then yes. Ideally any super important chatter would also somehow be posted to the guild or to the guild's main thread in the forums so people who don't use discord or whatever other service don't miss out. But if using the outside service is that big of a problem for people then maybe that's just not the guild for them, and finding a guild that doesn't rely on it or communicates on both sides is more ideal.
Just because other sites haven't one isn't an argument. Subeta has the shoutbox too, but last I was there it was causing so many problems for the site that they frequently had to take it offline or restrict access during holidays because it was that big of an issue.
It also really depends on what the notification system is like, how the archiving of messages in the live chat system works, ect. I'm just saying if the staff can't make it functional it's not like anything is going to be lost because there are alternatives, and if people wish not to use them then that's not something the staff here can do anything about.
I am looking forward too for the Guild system.
I'm also not impressed by the lack of communication and action on issues that have been put to your attention since launch, such as the art style change since beta. Please address these and show us you are taking our concerns and suggestions seriously? A little goodwill would go a long way, I know I am not the only user that is feeling very restless and frustrated by this. With every update that is posted, I hope to see a line responding to our suggestions and showing a willingness to compromise and do the right thing, and I am growing more and more disappointed when every update yields anything but.
I'm cautiously looking forward to the summer event but I'm worried it'll be as grindy as the spring event in beta... I ground my way to the gold tier then, but it was a slog and I am not sure I'm willing to do it again. Please also take into account the feedback in the Dappervolk Fatigue thread (Dappervolk and Lore subforum) before going ahead with an extra grindy, repetitive, time-consuming feature! Events can and should be fun! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that this one will be. Love Lilia and Fantasia.
Well, I respect that your perspective is different from mine and hopefully Devs will address your concerns. I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree on a lot of stuff, because I really don't see what the big deal is about people being patient enough to wait a little bit longer to get into their guild of choice.
We're already going to have to wait a couple more weeks, so what's a few more days on top of that while your first 15 members unlock a bigger Guild for everyone? Everyone's still on the Discord, so you can all still just hang out while the unlocking gets done. Admittedly, we don't know how long it will take to unlock a larger member count, but all we have to do is be patient and wait and see, that's my general attitude here.
First 15 names from the random lottery can go into the main guild immediately, second 15 names go into the backup guild, assuming you have at least 30 applicants via your Discord. Nice and organized and you can blame the in-game limit so no one blames you for not getting in immediately (thus: no fallout, unless someone is being immature). The reason Guilds are limited to 20 at first are to give people a goal to reach, something to work up to, like when you level up in an RPG.
I think it is fun to discover what exactly we'll have to do in our Guilds, including what the upper member limit is. I think whatever challenges lie ahead, we can handle them.
the event sounds exciting ♡
