July Update!

Hello world-hoppers! Welcome to July, our official first of a month on Dappervolk after launching. We'd like to thank everyone for a lovely launch week! It's been amazing to see everyone's response to our long months of hard work. We hope to continuously improve on the game and we're so excited to share more of it with you!
Without further ado, our first order of business is the unveiling of our very first Monthly Shop. July's theme is Mothlike!

These items were procured from a distant land full of moonlight, dusty books, and hidden knowledge.

What are Monthly Shops?Without further ado, our first order of business is the unveiling of our very first Monthly Shop. July's theme is Mothlike!

These items were procured from a distant land full of moonlight, dusty books, and hidden knowledge.

- Every month, Pai, Oran, and Agnes from Peddler's Port will have different sets of 6 items in their shops that will retire at the end of the month.
- These items are obtained from far away lands and follow the theme of the land they visited each month.
- The items will retire at the end of each month to be replaced by new stock.
- All retired items from Monthly Shops will eventually be able to be obtained rarely from Grandma Agnes later on.
How can I get to Peddler's Port?
Peddler's Port is a seaside location that you can unlock by going through the main storyline in Louise Hill. Once unlocked, you can visit Peddler's Port any time without using up a town hop!

Pai's Machine of Wonders
Pai will host these 6 items in their shop this month for 180 turnips per spin. If you spin 10 times, you will be able to choose a free item of your choice! Free spins will expire after about 3 months.

Oran's Emporium
Oran's shop will be stocked with these 6 items for 6000 potatoes per spin!

Agnes' Perpetual Shop
Agne's now hosts a Mothlike Silver Chest that contains a full set of items from Pai's shop at a higher total turnip cost.
These monthly shops will run until July 31st, after which they will be refurbished to house August's monthly items!

The Charity Pet Sale will be concluding on July 4th, we will be donating all remaining proceeds by the 5th and sending out redemption code emails then!

The Launch Support Bundles will be retiring permanently on July 5th, after which they will no longer be available!
All remaining redemption codes will be sent out after the 5th.
Upcoming Events
We have a big summer event planned to happen some time in August.
For the time being, we will likely be hosting another Adventuring Riddle Contest at some point this month!

That's all for now, we'll be updating everyone through future news and status posts!
Thank you so much for playing and supporting Dappervolk.

Please consider a change in the future.
But if I were to spend real life money.. Id rather buy a bundle ( like the Light/Dark Bundles ) for $15-$25 CAD rather then try my luck with RNG "Loot boxes"
Gacha machines for in game potato's ( not real money ) Is away better then spending real money on it.
except, it's inexplicably only half of the set? presumably because you've offered the other half for non-premium currency to anticipate users who would be frustrated by your monthly shop being pay to play. but it's not actually answering that problem since half of the set IS still pay to play.
but ok whatever i choose to purchase the monthly half set for $20. it's monthly. that's $20 every month. that's a $240 bill every year lmao.
i have probably contributed close to $600 USD to this site between the Kickstarter, support bundles and whatever else. i don't say that to hold it over your heads -- that was my choice, but i say it to reinforce that i want y'all to be successful. but this is weird and unreasonable.
why are you charging so much for a reusable, non custom asset? why are we gambling with real money for them? i feel like so many of the economic decisions behind this game come from this old guard pet site mentality of scarcity, which largely drives the value of items in old sites like Neopets, Gaia, Flightrising, Aywas, whatever. but Dappervolk is putting the cart before the horse by creating scarcity instead of letting it happen naturally.
if i could straight up buy these all a la carte for $1.80 with Pai OR buy the full set from Agnes for $15 OR spin for the full set with the other one for potatoes at whatever price, i'd be cool. i'm not interested in wasting my money on gambling or supporting loot boxes for kids.
other than that, this set is absolutely gorgeous. ^_^
I am more than happy to spend money on the things I enjoy and have no issue spending irl cash to support good sites, games, and the like. They need money to operate, after all.
However, the current marketing tactics being unveiled are a bad experience at best and predatory at worst. The free spin points "feature" for the Premium Badge actively preys on users loyal enough to purchase a subscription to this site by encouraging gambling. It is not only disgusting to introduce real-money gambling on a site that allows minors but also feels like a slap in the face to your community.
It costs around a minimum of $10 to spin six times with zero guarantee that no doubles will be pulled. This makes the $20 outright feel rather steep and further encourages real-money gambling. These are only tradable cosmetics and I am thankful for that, but these tactics are needless and predatory. It is very disheartening to see Dappervolk sink to greedy lootboxes despite being built on the backs of Kickstarter supporters.
I implore those behind this decision to listen to your community and rethink the turnip gacha addition. Allow users to purchase premium items for only a set cost, whether those items are individual or in a bundle. Please do not encourage real-money gambling on your site.
Despite initially being interested in the Premium Badge only to support the site, I will be avoiding spending any money at all on Dappervolk if these predatory tactics continue.
