POST-EVENT MAINTENANCE TIME
  • There will be a short 15-30 minute planned maintenance downtime at 12:30AM DVT tonight, where we will be unlocking the new event quest for everyone, as well as removing all Shimmering Embers.

ADDITIONAL POST-EVENT INFO
  • The event quest, "Lilia & Fantasia's Summer Festival" will be available to begin by speaking to Lilia until the end of September! After which it will seasonally return next year.
  • If you weren't able to participate as much as you would've liked this summer, don't worry! The seasonal nature of this event means that it and all of its associated prize items will return again.
  • We'll be adding onto seasonal events every time they come around each year, so stay tuned for what new things may lie in store for next summer!
  • We'd also like to thank everyone for the feedback provided surrounding the event, and will be striving to improve for next year!

NOTICE: It appears that the unlocked overtime rewards have not processed yet, our main backend developer is working on this and these rewards should be distributed to everyone soon!

You should really make the wings layer over normal backgrounds. The fact that it's hidden completely if you have any other full backgrounds on is disappointing and I wouldn't have bothered grinding for it if I knew this was the case.

I missed the elite tier by 750 points because I overslept. The one day I wanted to actually get up earlier...

It seems the two overtime embers can't be added to wardrobe...?

So, first of all, events like this are quite addictive for me. I like the way you can do well simply by logging in for a minute or so every two hours.
Also, it's good to see that Elite were accessible for nearly a third of the players.

    That said: Some feedback.

Please don't ever hold back the final score results for what can be gathered in the future. Too many users were panicking, thinking the only way to get elite was to not sleep at all. And arguing to "trust in staff, that it'll be perfectly possible to get elite and a good night sleep at the same time" doesn't do much, when staff's most visible actions pull in the opposite direction.
I understand wanting to make things a surprise, but this would be achieved by simply not telling what the task will be, while posting all the scores that'll be available to get every day as the event starts.

This bring us to the second massive issue: I don't mind staff participating in events. But when there's close to no responses from staff by users panicking over the scores not being enough from elite, having a staff member not get any uninterrupted sleep for more than 75 hours - never missing a single click, and grabbing them on the dot the timer resets every time - gives the message that this is the only way to get elite.
On top of that, it implicitly tells other Dappervolk users this is how they should be playing the game. Encouraging an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. And to me it shows that Dappervolk fails to care for their own staff, allowing them to do such a thing while on their job. If this is what the admins do, how many of the regular mods might end up feeling pressured to show the same behaviour? It's one thing what people do in their spare time, but playing from an admin account brings it into work territory. And no workplace should allow their employees to stay up for more than three days straight working.

Rounding up these two big issues, the last is communication. It's not good, when the Discord is the only place people get information from, as they bring up massive concerns about a staff member playing having unfair advantages. This is the sort of communication that should be handled with transparency. Not on external platforms.

On a more positive note, while I originally thought I'd really miss the scoreboard, it actually removed a lot of stress for me. I was never in the top 20, but not feeling pressured to hit the "Feed a pet" button the minute things rolls over - in order to score a little higher-, made a massive difference to me.
I could definitively see events like this run without a scoreboard in the future. Giving all available points from the start and not having a scoreboard would have prevented almost all the big issues I've had with this event.

Also, I like that thee's different tiers. It gives me something to aim for. And unlocking the extra rewards also had me playing longer than I strictly needed to.

As a suggestion, I really like how the rainbow event was a different kind of event than this event. Running different kind of events with different play-styles, would make things more open to different users, meaning those with play-styles not good for several small repeated visits during two weeks, also have events suiting them better.
So please do consider keeping up with switching between event style. :)

Very happy with the prizes I got, I just thought that the potato rewards stacked, whooops!

Was a bit bummed that there wasn’t a seasonal pet drop for this event. But it went along nicely! Would also like to echo that having all tasks available in the beginning, or greater out tasks that when you hover, show you how many points they are, would be good so people, like me, don’t panic that we won’t get elite.
  • Villager Poppy (#221) 6 Sep 2020, 5:43 am
    * greyed, not greater
  • Villager Alexy (#3085) 6 Sep 2020, 5:56 am
"The seasonal nature of this event means that it and all of its associated prize items will return again." Well, this is killing my interest like for ever. Deliver the same items every year? Oh, yeah, we love that (not actually, no). Why would I want to participate again if I'm getting the same items, it's absurd.

Astraleaf (#17183) The ember totems are for your pets! I just equipped mine to my bellfox.
    Good job everyone!

I think the repeating rewards idea is great! That way, people that missed out this time can make it next time!
I also like how elite is no longer the top 25 percent like it was in beta. I think a lot of the stress came from people not understanding it wouldn’t be a one time thing - stressing that this was their only chance. I think the team has actually responded really well, removing the scoreboards actually worked out for the best I think!

Elicon (#44050) don’t worry, the nice thing about the event items repeating is you can get it next year!
