Reporting Comment #829001 on Summer Event Conclusion! by Gwennafran (#612)

So, first of all, events like this are quite addictive for me. I like the way you can do well simply by logging in for a minute or so every two hours.
Also, it's good to see that Elite were accessible for nearly a third of the players.

That said: Some feedback.

Please don't ever hold back the final score results for what can be gathered in the future. Too many users were panicking, thinking the only way to get elite was to not sleep at all. And arguing to "trust in staff, that it'll be perfectly possible to get elite and a good night sleep at the same time" doesn't do much, when staff's most visible actions pull in the opposite direction.
I understand wanting to make things a surprise, but this would be achieved by simply not telling what the task will be, while posting all the scores that'll be available to get every day as the event starts.

This bring us to the second massive issue: I don't mind staff participating in events. But when there's close to no responses from staff by users panicking over the scores not being enough from elite, having a staff member not get any uninterrupted sleep for more than 75 hours - never missing a single click, and grabbing them on the dot the timer resets every time - gives the message that this is the only way to get elite.
On top of that, it implicitly tells other Dappervolk users this is how they should be playing the game. Encouraging an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. And to me it shows that Dappervolk fails to care for their own staff, allowing them to do such a thing while on their job. If this is what the admins do, how many of the regular mods might end up feeling pressured to show the same behaviour? It's one thing what people do in their spare time, but playing from an admin account brings it into work territory. And no workplace should allow their employees to stay up for more than three days straight working.

Rounding up these two big issues, the last is communication. It's not good, when the Discord is the only place people get information from, as they bring up massive concerns about a staff member playing having unfair advantages. This is the sort of communication that should be handled with transparency. Not on external platforms.

On a more positive note, while I originally thought I'd really miss the scoreboard, it actually removed a lot of stress for me. I was never in the top 20, but not feeling pressured to hit the "Feed a pet" button the minute things rolls over - in order to score a little higher-, made a massive difference to me.
I could definitively see events like this run without a scoreboard in the future. Giving all available points from the start and not having a scoreboard would have prevented almost all the big issues I've had with this event.

Also, I like that thee's different tiers. It gives me something to aim for. And unlocking the extra rewards also had me playing longer than I strictly needed to.

As a suggestion, I really like how the rainbow event was a different kind of event than this event. Running different kind of events with different play-styles, would make things more open to different users, meaning those with play-styles not good for several small repeated visits during two weeks, also have events suiting them better.
So please do consider keeping up with switching between event style. :)
