Summer Event Update!
As we enter into the home stretch of our Summer Festivities event, we have an important event update to announce!
Due to some staff work schedules shifting for this coming weekend, the end of the event will need to be extended in order to ensure that our main backend dev is able to be online during the final moments of the event where the site processes all final scores and awards. While not initially planned for, we hope that this extra time will give everyone a last minute opportunity to keep working on their scores and tier placements!
QUICK EVENT END INFORMATION

Due to some staff work schedules shifting for this coming weekend, the end of the event will need to be extended in order to ensure that our main backend dev is able to be online during the final moments of the event where the site processes all final scores and awards. While not initially planned for, we hope that this extra time will give everyone a last minute opportunity to keep working on their scores and tier placements!
QUICK EVENT END INFORMATION
- When the event timer hits "0 seconds left to help!", the event will close and automatically shift into processing all scores and reward data. It should take approximately 1 minute for everything to process, after which you may visit the event page to view your rewards!
- All successfully unlocked overtime rewards will be automatically added onto your event rewards - everyone who participated in the event will receive these overtime items!
- In order to update the site with new content associated with the ending of the event, we'll need to have a short maintenance downtime period at 12:30am DV time on September 6th (~30 minutes after the event ends). This should be quick, lasting approximately 15-20 minutes or less!
- As a reminder to everyone, the Shimmering Embers event items will extinguish at the end of the event! Be sure to use them up for some easy Item Alchemy rewards, if you'd like, before they're wiped from player inventories.

One thing I noticed the differences with the website and the discord when it comes to feedback.
I mean no offense, but the discord DV community holds different opinions than people on site, and it sometimes makes me wonder if they actually play or just think that any form of criticism, especially constructive, is bad and awful and the dv staff must be defended at all costs. Anytime I see valid critique being offered on the discord (not anything like 'this sucks I hate it', but like feedback on mechanisms), people jump at their throats as if they're attacking the staff, when in reality someone is trying to give actual feedback.
So then, people stop posting feedback on the discord, and instead post them in here/the news comments, and tbh I feel that the DV staff focus more on what's said in the discord than in comments here because its all sunshine and rainbows in the discord (so that means nothing is wrong, right??) but then you go here and its all valid critique/nobody is attacking, but you'll get comments on the discord saying otherwise which just feeds into it more, and nobody wants to read 'bad' stuff, so they just listen to the discord and think things are okay. I don't ever see any acknowledgment from staff that these comments in here are actually read, nor do I see any changes/updates from direct critique placed in here and on the forums.
Dunno what to say other than I feel the environment on the discord is toxic/brown-nosing so to speak, so people can't properly give their feedback, which is why most if not all the actual feedback is posted here on forums and in the comments, but because of the environment, people don't read it.
It's not bad feedback, most of it is valid and good--its just ignored feedback, from how it feels.
Did I miss something here? We got the Ember Totem for meeting the main event goal. The Summer Wild Flowers and 2000 potatoes for the first overtime, and Summer Tied Shirt, Vibrant Ember Totem and 3000 potatoes for the second overtime bonus. When we reached 100% of the third overtime bonus, nothing was added. Outside of that, I've reached beyond Elite so I'm very happy. All in all, I loved the event even with minor glitches.

Great job to DV staff & great job to the community for putting in work towards this event so everyone who participates gets all the items, and thank you for continuing to care enough to provide honest feedback. Together, we're all making this site what we want it to be.
So many of us have been burned by petsites in the past, for me personally, it was Neopets & Flight Rising. There were a lot of expectations for this site; that it would be the holy grail of petsites, and nothing would be wrong with it. But that's not realistic. We are all lucky that we have found such a wonderful site, and staff who are willing to compromise with us to make this site into the imperfect gold mine that it is. ❤
