Hey there, looks like you just wandered in. Why not have a look around and stay for a while, maybe even start your own adventure, if you're into that.

Welcome to April!

Hello everyone! Welcome to April, we're wishing you good health and fun all around.

Our 34th month of limited shops has arrived:
April's theme is the Wasteland Nomad!

The sands of time billow across a wide expanse, rendering all to ruin
and decay with a slow and unwavering certainty. Sunlight splashes
onto a watery surface, dreamlike in its tranquility.

A status post with a link to the stream will be posted when it begins!
We'll be working on wishes from the Wishing Well thread.
Hope to see you there!

EVENT PROGRESS
We're working steadily on both the Winter and the Kelbi event, some more detailed progress was outlined in our previous news post. Our plan is to aim to start the Winter Event some time mid April, so we'll have more news for you on that as soon as we're ready. The Kelbi event will follow relatively soon after the Winter event ends!

Though our event progress is late, we're confident that the stories and lore will not feel out of place, and we're excitedly hoping to finish creating storylines for all 12 of our deities by early 2024. Dappervolk's world and lore is intrinsically tied to the deities and how NPCs view them, which is why so much emphasis is placed on them currently. Creating stories for the Deities with events does a vital job of expanding the world lore.

STAFF HIRING PLANS
We'll be releasing our staff recruitment post some time during the coming event when we have an activity boost!

QOL UPDATES
We're working on some more QoL Updates and bug fixes which we'll be releasing in changelogs through the month.

As always, thank you so much for playing and supporting
Dappervolk. We'll be back with more updates soon!

I don't have the time nor mental energy capacity to fully write my thoughts so I'll try to summarize, but of the few times I can manage to come online here, one of the biggest reasons to even attempt to save potatoes has been the monthlies. At this point that's literally all that my new potatoes go to, and bringing the Oran exchange back despite there being no need other than "inflation fix" is making that even more daunting than ever, and I'm sure I'm not the only casual player feeling this way. I hope, like many others, that this is some April Fools joke in bad taste. I want to love this new set, I really do! And Dappervolk has come a long way these past few months! But I can't deny that this is one of many mistakes that could have been avoided easily, and I really hope that what players are saying is taken to heart. I think that if a potato sink is made, what others are saying about a non-limited, long term sink, would be far better, as well as though who bring up that a good game encourages players to work around the issues because that makes it more worth it until they're addressed or simply go away.

TL;DR Oran Exchange being brought back was a bad idea but hey, cool set at least!

I cant even focus on if the monthly set is nice or not. Im too frustrated with the dang oran exchange coming back. We did not need this. We did not ask for this. Recolors are a fun idea, but this is just a terrible way to implement them. Its also a terrible potato sink. We need more permanent and smaller sinks. Not giant monthly fomo potato sinks that irritate the majority of the userbase.
    Just what the heck man.
Staff should start polling the userbase before rolling things out like this. Im so tired of asking the staff to just for once listen to the users.

    begone, vile oran exchange
  • Villager woods (#4944) 2 Apr 2023, 4:32 pm
how do you get cosmic shards from adventuring?? i've been doing it for hours and havent gotten a single one.
  • Villager Sev (#3394) 2 Apr 2023, 6:11 pm
i don't know what i even got them from but i seem to have been awarded fortune satchels from something yesterday, despite this currency not being in use this year?
  • Villager Halc (#9570) 3 Apr 2023, 8:32 pm
I've done the Oran Exchange and it's terrible. Attempting to use the Oran Exchange as a potato sink is very punishing for those who don't have a lot of potatoes. As someone who plays casually/minimally, I usually go for one 10-roll on Oran's current banner and then trade for whatever else I need. Trying to fix the economy with RNG is not the way to go
  • Villager Sugarbabie (#70680) 5 Apr 2023, 2:21 pm
Like with all games not everyone is going to be happy , however I still like this and i'll get guff for that sure but I can also see the bigger picture as well. Keep it going!
  • Villager okien (#67850) 8 Apr 2023, 3:46 am
Y'all just against the game getting more content than you know what to do with? The game failing to run out of content is more feature than bug. People are going to prefer different things from you so. It needs to develop somehow. The amount of people the new feature attracted to the site last month is what's no joke actually. :/ "If you don't like it don't play" is honestly positive development so people can decide what aspects they enjoy since people do have free will. It feeling "samey" "grindy" "pointless" was the previous complaint where here's the point to some people now so. People who enjoy playing the game the original way can get rewarded all they want if you ask me.
  • Villager Lunastardust5 (#21182) 12 Apr 2023, 7:02 pm
What was the item in the cellar I missed out on it
  • Villager satyrgatyr (#43977) 17 Apr 2023, 11:27 am
so it's mid month and no word on winter event, no addressing the return of Oran's exchange, no new customs. Hmm
  • Villager Clamie_Ty (#51057) 20 Apr 2023, 2:47 am
The winter event is so delayed we're basically starting in summer...i genuinely cant tell if this consistent mismatch on projected dates and actual releases is an "ambitious event/underestimated workload" problem or a time management/focus one....maybe both
  • Villager Magician (#378) 21 Apr 2023, 6:43 pm
Lack of communication regarding user feedback is killing the site, staff. Seems like we're going to be well into May before the winter event kicks off, which is closer to SUMMER than winter. You might need to skip the spring event just to get back on track for the season.

And of course, no comment on the four pages of users begging you guys to not continue the trend of Oran's exchange, huh?
  • Villager Kerberos (#39752) 26 Apr 2023, 1:58 am
    please remove the oran exchange...
