Hey there, looks like you just wandered in. Why not have a look around and stay for a while, maybe even start your own adventure, if you're into that.

Welcome to April!

Hello everyone! Welcome to April, we're wishing you good health and fun all around.

Our 34th month of limited shops has arrived:
April's theme is the Wasteland Nomad!

The sands of time billow across a wide expanse, rendering all to ruin
and decay with a slow and unwavering certainty. Sunlight splashes
onto a watery surface, dreamlike in its tranquility.

A status post with a link to the stream will be posted when it begins!
We'll be working on wishes from the Wishing Well thread.
Hope to see you there!

EVENT PROGRESS
We're working steadily on both the Winter and the Kelbi event, some more detailed progress was outlined in our previous news post. Our plan is to aim to start the Winter Event some time mid April, so we'll have more news for you on that as soon as we're ready. The Kelbi event will follow relatively soon after the Winter event ends!

Though our event progress is late, we're confident that the stories and lore will not feel out of place, and we're excitedly hoping to finish creating storylines for all 12 of our deities by early 2024. Dappervolk's world and lore is intrinsically tied to the deities and how NPCs view them, which is why so much emphasis is placed on them currently. Creating stories for the Deities with events does a vital job of expanding the world lore.

STAFF HIRING PLANS
We'll be releasing our staff recruitment post some time during the coming event when we have an activity boost!

QOL UPDATES
We're working on some more QoL Updates and bug fixes which we'll be releasing in changelogs through the month.

As always, thank you so much for playing and supporting
Dappervolk. We'll be back with more updates soon!

Please stop with the Oran's exchange, this just create more very hard and expansive to-get items for future players. Please keep them in mind.
We need potato sinks, yes, but ones that aren't limited.
Last month was justified, this is absolutely not. The vast majority of your player hate this especially 2 months in a row, so don't do that again, please.
You need to retain your current players but also be attractive to future players. This poor decision do the opposite.
Again, yes a potato sink is good, but a permanent one. Not limited.
  • Villager Gaia (#528) 1 Apr 2023, 5:25 am
Why exactly are we continuously increasing the amount of monthly retiring items? Its as if the staff do opposite of what we ask for. Perhaps if I start saying there are too few limitedly available retiring items, they'll finally start releasing a manageable number.
  • Villager Mahogi (#21949) 1 Apr 2023, 6:33 am
Oh no not this again :( I maybe wouldn't mind a SINGLE item in Oran's exchange but not this many...
Last month was justified, as it was a complete tragedy, but why now?

  • Villager Empusa (#6056) 1 Apr 2023, 6:43 am
I wish the orans exchance would be a joke dont they Listen to the community? ... also dont like that the New Set has a gun included ;o it doesnt feel right on here especially since there are a lot younger players on here...
  • Villager Bodhi (#23735) 1 Apr 2023, 6:44 am
I know I may not be the popular opinion but I do enjoy being able to get rid of extra items through Oran's Emporium. It's a fun function imo.
  • Villager Celiane (#1661) 1 Apr 2023, 7:12 am
The Oran Exchange feels like a huge April Fool's joke. I wish it was a joke but it isn't. Why not create new permanent Potatoes sinks instead of modifying Oran into a Potatoes sink...
  • Villager Sinjun (#61938) 1 Apr 2023, 7:22 am
Why the Oran's Exchange again? What's the reason for it? Especially when 3 of the items are just recolor of the same skin....
  • Villager Chaostiel (#1768) 1 Apr 2023, 7:34 am
WOW these looks soooo coool WOOO
  • Villager BlackRose (#9895) 1 Apr 2023, 8:11 am
O..m..g...I didn't think this Oran situation would get even worse, especially when the last problem STILL has not been addressed (thankfully we don't have a pet this month). It never even crossed my mind that the stupid goods exchange would continue with more recolors, BECAUSE WE WERE TOLD IT WAS ONLY FOR MARCH. Wth? Please tell me this is like a really really bad April Fool's joke? I swear no one on the DV staff knows how to run a game site (e.g; listen to player feedback), they just do whatever they want, and it's so frustrating and sad. :/

I NEVER have much more than maybe an extra item or two after the month is over because I spin once, ONCE. And then trade my duplicates with others for the few items I still need. This is not making me want to spin more, it's making me want to leave the site (is that actually your plan DV? push people off the site so their potatoes stay out of the market and they can't generate more so it solves your potato sink need?). Maybe if it was a 1:1 trade I could perhaps be a bit more enticed to spin more to trade, but 1:3 is still absolutely awful.

To me, these limited-time expensive potato sinks only cater to one audience. Popular custom creators who sell copies. It's not fair. And while it is of no fault of the custom creators, this really makes me envious of them, angry, and sad, feeling that I'm left out and even being pushed out because I'm a casual player and can't afford these changes. Sure, you get potatoes out of the market from them and I know that's what you want, DV, but I feel it ostracizes a big portion of the player base who are casual players and don't make as many potatoes, and that's not good.

So PLEASE, stop it with these dumb limited-time potato sinks. Last month it was ok, it was a quick bandaid for the mess that happened last month, better than nothing. But no more. Want to make a permanent, year-round potato sink? Go ahead and I'd happily accept it and gladly partake in it because I'd actually have time to get enough potatoes to sink. As it is now these sinks just make me feel like I'm missing out on a part of the game I enjoyed (collecting set items/pets) and they don't take any more potatoes out of my hands, because I can't really afford them anymore. Do something better and they may actually work on me (and other casual players).

On a much more positive note. I absolutely LOVE this month's set! Doesn't take first place in my favorites, but it is really up there. xD We really don't get enough dark/muted colored sets. The theme of this set is really awesome too! Thank you for this!
  • Villager WanderLostGirl (#17106) 1 Apr 2023, 8:52 am
    this isnt a potato sink
this is only going to increase inflation because now they HAVE to buy more random spins to have a chance for more random draws.... these should be alchemy items at least... at least you are only charging 3... oh wait... that 30k per item, in b4 they end up on mp for 90+
    thanks inflation faeries! >.>
(im still holding out hope this will be a poorly done joke since you cant get them til tomorrow...)

at this point the events will never be 'on time', why not just skip a year and start them next winter when they are supposed to happen?
i feel like fixing the content you already have is more important than stuffing new things in under a certain date...

the eyes, mouth and skin are going straight to my faves, they're so pretty! **
  • Villager JACKAL0PE (#70146) 1 Apr 2023, 9:10 am
for the Oran's exchange, I don't think it's a bad thing; yes, it'll be much better if we were looking for a pet like in the Clothier's month, but we can still sell extra ones. Especially because there'll surely be new people in like, idk, month or two, who won't have a chance to catch Oran's from this month, and also ones who'd like to buy things for the exchanges anyway, one way or another
  • Villager Spirit (#62948) 1 Apr 2023, 9:11 am
From a big picture standpoint, I'm genuinely interested in asking Staff this:

When you roll out an update, are you first considering whether the update will be a fun and positive change for the playerbase? Does it make the game more fun to play?

To me, it's obvious many of the updates over the last month or two have focused on mitigating potato inflation, but in chasing this inflation concept, you forgot that the overarching goal is to make a better gameplay experience.

Fixing the inflation problem doesn't fix anything if the community is still disgruntled and frustrated. I think you are creating new problems by trying to fix other problems, and a step back here and big picture evaluation here would be best. Are your updates making Dappervolk more fun? Based on the majority of comments on the last two monthly update news posts, the answer is no. I'm pointing this out with only good intent, as I truly want DV to succeed in the future.

Good Lord please let the Oran Exchange be a prank
  • Villager pancakewithabs (#50755) 1 Apr 2023, 11:11 am
Stop doing the Oran Exchange. This is going to make the normal Oran items worthless and getting a complete set cost hundreds of thousands of potatoes.
