Hey there, looks like you just wandered in. Why not have a look around and stay for a while, maybe even start your own adventure, if you're into that.

Autumn Festivities Conclusion!

Hello everyone, thank you so much for participating in
Magdalene's Autumn Festivities! We hope you enjoyed your time
diving into the deity lore and collecting currency, as well as being
creative in our event thread and admiring submissions.

We're here to share results and conclusions for the end of the event!

In total, 449 users created and submitted 4224 pieces for the Fall Creativity Prompts!

While each submission got a participation prize of
5 Wild Forage Snacks, we're also giving out some
bigger raffled and staff pick prizes!

Here are our Staff Team's favourites! All of these submissions are so fun and creative in their own ways, we had a great time picking them out! Click on each thumbnail to see the full submission.

Each Staff Pick winner is rewarded:

Here are some thoughts and improvements in regards to the event features we designed this season!
  • Our Autumn event was our first foray into a more forum based event run manually by staff.
  • In the future, our plan is to have one fully coded event feature with different mechanics per season (4 different types in total) with side activities such as creativity forum threads, seasonal quests, and various other site based mechanics to supplement the main event type!
  • Event Shop and Currency removal date will be staggered to be after other dates from the start to give everyone time to buy what they want before it closes.
  • Event shop items will be stationary rather than changing in order upon refresh/purchase.
  • "Currency" type item will be added to allow better inventory sorting.
  • Seasonal event quest will not have a repetition loophole after completion for future events in which you can get more snacks per day if you don't complete the seasonal quest right away. We'll make sure this experience is the same for everyone!

Our next more major event will be some time within the winter months, we'll update everyone with more info as we plan!

Magdalene and Irin wave goodbye to the autumn scenery
as winter approaches. Ombra retreats into the shade
of the forest, ready for slumber.

Thank you so much and congrats to everyone!

I said it during a previous event as well, and some of the comments confirm this. It is -super- confusing to name the 8th as the end-date, when the event ended the very first second of the day. (Even more so cause a large part of the world doesn't use am and pm for times. I never remember if its noon or midnight) It'd cause a lot less confusion and frustration if you'd just say it ends on December 7th at 23.59.59 (or 11.59.59 pm ..)

Thank you so much for such a nice event, staff!! I had so much fun learning the story and getting to help the sprite! And also getting nice new clothes! :p

Congrats to the winners! All the food entries made me so hungry lol

Thank you staff for the event! I enjoyed reading about the characters, seeing all the pretty art (in all forms, both staff and usermade), and of course the event changes.

I loved that we were able to do it on our own time, that there were a variety of things to do to earn currency or exercise our art muscles, the event shop was really good for people to plan what they want. There was just less uncertainty in everything and more flexibility to do the things that we need to do. I know we can't have a new pet every event, every year, but the bear!!! is! so! good!

This might be because the whole event is completely new, but if the creativity prompts had a submission form that collects our entries and posts them to a gallery/locked forum, or holds them for staff approval before doing so, and also automatically distributes the snacks, that might free up some time for other things.

The future plans address the other issues that I had with the event, so there's no complaint here. Excited to see what lies ahead. :)

Pogged about the win, I wanted to get a second background anyways but forgot!

But I also wanna say that the event massively overstayed it's welcome with the extension. I mean, it was nice so that everyone got all the stuff they wanted, but up-front communication and consistently higher currency rates would have been much preferred.

The quest, although artificially inflated, was content for maybe a week. I would have understood doing 2 weeks to allow everyone with time restraints to finish it. But in the end the event ran Nov 12th to Dec 8th - over 3 and a half weeks!

I personally got really burnt out after about a week and a half - starting my dailies at 11:45pm so that I could get two days of peace from the site and not playing any playground games after that. I do not expect to get everything handed to me - but grinding truly was boring and a chore. And I couldn't even quit because there was always a fear of the mods "surprising" us with some new thing to buy or feature that would be inaccessible if I hadn't put in 110% from day 1.

    Overall - I'm really really begging for a week-short, predictable and well communicated event next. Just something where we know what is expected in advance, and can work for it at our own discretion. Please ;;

I agree with using times for start and end dates as mentioned earlier by others though
  • Villager SheepSheepy (#47552) 8 Dec 2020, 1:33 am
I won something! Thank you! :D

Always cool to see the number of participants/entries, as well as staff-picked entries and raffle winners. We have very talented users in this community.

I didn’t see this mentioned in the list, so I’ll have to urge staff to please open the event shop right at the very beginning for the following events!
  • Villager Oracle (#6082) 8 Dec 2020, 2:22 am
I am deeply grateful and honored to be chosen as a staff team favorite. Thank you so much DV Team! <3
  • Villager Scheherazade (#11643) 8 Dec 2020, 2:23 am
I'm so happy. I just saw the raffle prize in my inbox. This event was soo much better than the summer event, can't wait for winter and spring!
  • Villager Chi (#8359) 8 Dec 2020, 2:24 am
Python (#344) I agree that it overstayed its welcome, but it’s not really about the time length imo... The event’s just so monotonous because after the quest, it’s purely only dailies plus the usual 3’s forest cleanup & adventuring grind. That’s already something that many users have felt fatigued by. If the event added something new & interesting to the experience, I’d say it wouldn’t have felt so dragged out.

Thank you very much for selecting my story. I had a lot of fun writing it, and you've made Glume such a vivid character that it was easy to find a voice for her in the conversation.
  • Villager Jolteon (#1119) 8 Dec 2020, 4:13 am
Thanks for the event!! Congrats to all the raffle winners and staff picks btw, they look amazing :DD
  • Villager Gaia (#528) 8 Dec 2020, 4:18 am
An additional piece of feedback I'd like to give is for the special event items/currency to not disappear at the event's end, but rather stay in your inventory, so you have some for the next year. I see no added benefit of them disappearing, other than causing frustration and making the effort of obtaining them completely obsolete. Even if you don't have enough to buy a new item, before the event ends, or you already have everything and have no need to buy another item, it feels like a huge waste to just let them vanish.

Congrats to all the winners!! The creativity submissions were all so lovely, it was a joy to browse through through them and to participate ^u^
