Reporting Comment #1755689 on Custom Site Limit & Ravan Update! by Pericci (#3773)

I mean, I think that’s fine if everyone is limited to just one idea for each. I should have been more clear with my wording- I did specifically mean a limit of 1 per clothing/pet for rolling, not just in general.

But, a limit on 1 per type on rolling doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck with only one. It doesn’t stop you from being able to trade or buy a custom item maker. If a person rolls a clothing custom item maker, they still have an option of finding someone with a pet custom item maker to trade with.

The fact of the matter is that custom item creators are the way to make big bucks in dappervolk. When I was active, I got about 60k potatoes from quests/fairgrounds, which minus monthly rolls/clothing purchases equals out to about 1.5mil potatoes in the bank every month.

Custom items sell very easily for over 300k potatoes, so a person with a custom just needs to sell at least 5 in a month in order to make as much as doing daily quests would.

Which, yes, the economy is always going to have people who make more money. But custom items give a huge advantage to making money that there’s no way for a user without custom items to compete. It also makes it easier to obtain custom makers- more cash to burn means that you don’t mind risking 1-2mil potatoes every 10 days to try and roll a custom maker. The fact that it went in 15 minutes means that we’re going to just have a mad dash every 10 days to try and be the first one to roll it. But while luck does play a part, having the ability to spend millions of potatoes every month is going to give you a clear advantage over anyone who can’t.

And, if you’re lucky enough to roll one, then 30 days is laughably short to save up money and then start rolling again. But you could point and argue that any amount of time gives you the ability to just hoard and save up potatoes. Hence, the one roll limit from now on suggestion.

The fact of the matter is, not everyone is going to get a custom, and that’s fine. I also don’t think there’s a way to have the system not favor people who have more potatoes to spend, but more should be done to make the custom maker distribution more fair across the site.
