Guild Creation Officially Open!

Hello everyone! Guilds can now officially be created! We've been working hard behind the scenes to prepare for it and we're so excited to finally be able to share this feature with the community. We're looking forward to all of the fun community niches that will be created here on Dappervolk in the form of Guilds.

What are Guilds?
A Guild on Dappervolk is a player created community hub complete with a guild-only forum, live chat, leveling system, and upgrades to improve the Guild's perks. A Guild's community will work together and level the Guild as well as complete upgrades by doing various activities onsite.

How can I join a Guild?
You can look for a Guild to join in the Guild Subforum or via the Guild Directory! Some Guilds will opt to have open applications while others will be invite only. Each Guild has limited member space that will depend on the upgrades that they have completed.

How can I Create a Guild?
There are certain requirements that a Guild founder will need to meet in order to create a Guild. Once you meet the requirements, you can speak to the Guild Officiator at Peddler's Port to obtain a Guild license.
  • You will need to have a minimum of 4500 collective affection in the town that you'd like to establish your Guild in.
  • You will need to pay a one-time fee of 100,000 Potatoes to create your Guild.
  • Lastly, 4 other users will be required to commit to joining your Guild as founders in order to get started. An invitation will be sent to them which must be accepted before the Guild can be fully created.

While the userbase gets settled into this new feature, we will be keeping a close eye on Guilds for bugs and issues that may only appear when hundreds of users start playing. Please bear with us as we tackle any bugs that arise! We are looking forward to all of the different guilds our community will be coming up with and customizing. We hope everyone has fun!

UPCOMING FEATURES, FIXES, & EVENTS
Lately things have been a bit quieter in terms of smaller news updates, as we've been quite busy behind the scenes working on the preparations for bigger updates! Below is a brief overview of some of the major upcoming things to look forward to that we've been working on recently. Each section will be covered in further detail in future updates!

Adventuring Optimization
Now that our Guilds feature is ready for release, we'll be focusing more development efforts on Adventuring optimization. Our current backend rework plans should reduce loading speed by a good deal as well as help out with CPU usage moderately. As a heads up, there will likely be up to a week of no site fixes being pushed to allow our coding developers to prepare the optimization in full before committing a live update.

Custom Creator Queue
This feature is next on our list of updates to put out, along with Adventuring Optimization. The two will likely be released together! We will make sure to give everyone a heads up before releasing this feature.

Fall Event
Our backend developer is also hard at work on new event types that will be different from the first major summer event that we had during August! However, due to the scale of effect that major events have on the entire site, we are not currently sure if we'll have time to fully implement and test a new major event type in time for a fall celebration. Nevertheless, we are actively planning festivities for the month of November regardless of whether or not the site is ready to host our next major event type!

Vaer Reef Quest Adjustments & Affection Quests
Currently, our writers have been working on adjustments to the Vaer Reef story quests and reworking the resulting Affection Milestone quests to better fit these changes. More info on this will be made available once all of the writing has been finalized and the adjustments are ready for implementation!

As a note, a maintenance downtime period will be required.

Hello everyone! We hope you've been doing well and staying healthy. We're back with a new update for October 2020 to start off the autumn season in full swing!

Our fourth month of limited shops has arrived:

What are Monthly Shops?
  • Every month, Pai and Oran from Peddler's Port will have different sets of 8 items in their shops that will retire at the end of the month to be replaced by new stock.
  • These items are obtained from far away lands and follow the theme of the land they visited each month.
  • From this month onwards, the number of monthly items has slightly increased, both Oran and Pai now have 2 extra items compared to previous months!
  • All retired items from Monthly Shops will eventually be able to be obtained very rarely from Grandma Agnes later on.

How can I get to Peddler's Port?
Peddler's Port is a seaside location that you can unlock by going through the main storyline in Louise Hill. Once unlocked, you can visit Peddler's Port any time without using up a town hop!

Pai's Shop of Wonders
Pai will host these 8 items in their infinite stock shop this month for 200 turnips each. If you spend 2000 turnips, you will be able to choose a free item of your choice! Free item claims will expire 3 months after obtaining them.

Agnes' Perpetual Shop
Agnes' shop is back with a chest that contains a set of Pai's 8 shop items for 1500 Turnips, ideal for collectors who want a full set at a small discount.

What are Turnips?
Turnips are the untradeable premium currency of Dappervolk. You can purchase them with real life currency here, as well as obtain them occasionally through gameplay.

Oran's Emporium
Oran's shop will be stocked with these 8 items for 9,000 potatoes per spin!

These monthly shops will run until October 31st, after which they will be removed to house November's monthly items!

FIXES & UPDATES

  • The character creation lost clothing bug has been fixed! This means that all newbies joining after this point will no longer lose their pants/shoes/shirt. Since newbie items are easy to obtain, we've sent a 200 potato reimbursement to everyone who has created a character since launch. All newbie items can be purchased for this amount at Nico's Atelier. Animal class users were not affected by this bug and therefore did not receive reimbursement!
  • If your account was registered with the wrong birth date and you haven't yet, please send in a Ticket via the Ticket Desk so we can assist you in getting it changed! All affected users who have already received NPC birthday letters this year can use/claim the rewards from them, as it currently isn't feasible to reverse the distribution of all letters and rewards for everyone waiting on a birth date fix. If you've already sent in a ticket, we have it in our list and will be getting to it soon!
  • Users who completed Visindy's Pursuits have received a reimbursement of Visindy's Mirage Stalagmites due to a bug with the quest, where some players did not receive this reward for completing the quest.
  • Mini game Personal Bests score board has been fixed to no longer wipe scores, as originally intended!
  • Animated Background items can now be saved correctly as png files using the "Save PNG" function in the wardrobe. Previously, the layering was incorrect for this item type.
  • Pet item fetch quests should now only ask for common and non account bound items.
  • Banned users can no longer receive item/currency transfers.
  • Some minor pagination layout fixes have been applied through the site.
  • Charming natured pets will now correctly respond to the gift of a Feather Quill. The item was incorrectly causing a liked response, and is now a neutral gift.

WHAT WE'RE WORKING ON

We've been hard at work behind the scenes preparing multiple larger features as well as juggling various quality of life and bug fixes. Here's a look at what we're currently working on!

Guilds
Our Guild Creation preparation and bug testing was unfortunately delayed for a couple of weeks following the Summer Festivities due to server outages taking priority as well as other technical considerations in relation to other updates and fixes. We're now back on track and have entered our last phase of testing! We'll be ready to launch very soon if testing goes smoothly.

Custom Creator Queue
The Custom queue will officially be opening shortly after Guilds are fully launched, we're working on some additional backend considerations for this system as well as streamlining it more before launch. We'll also be taking into consideration ways to allow Kickstarter Custom Tier backers to indicate so in their request in order to give some priority to those that have been waiting since the Kickstarter.

Additional Adventuring Optimization
Our Adventuring developer is working on revamping the back-end image processing part of Adventuring in order to have it run more smoothly. This will also help to streamline our future Housing feature!

Housing
We've begun setting up and preparing our framework for Housing and refining our designs for it. We're excited to get more into it and give you more details and teasers as time goes on!

Theater
We're preparing an ad theater in which you can watch some advertisements each day in order to slowly accumulate some turnips as well as other perks in the future. This will give users another way to accumulate turnips for free as well as support site development with an additional stable source of revenue. More info on this feature as we work on it further!

Louise Hill Adventuring Riddle Contest
The Louise Hill Adventuring Riddle Contest is currently still being judged, this is an update for folks who are waiting on results. We'll be sure to inform everyone once the winning riddles are selected!

POST-EVENT MAINTENANCE TIME
  • There will be a short 15-30 minute planned maintenance downtime at 12:30AM DVT tonight, where we will be unlocking the new event quest for everyone, as well as removing all Shimmering Embers.

ADDITIONAL POST-EVENT INFO
  • The event quest, "Lilia & Fantasia's Summer Festival" will be available to begin by speaking to Lilia until the end of September! After which it will seasonally return next year.
  • If you weren't able to participate as much as you would've liked this summer, don't worry! The seasonal nature of this event means that it and all of its associated prize items will return again.
  • We'll be adding onto seasonal events every time they come around each year, so stay tuned for what new things may lie in store for next summer!
  • We'd also like to thank everyone for the feedback provided surrounding the event, and will be striving to improve for next year!

NOTICE: It appears that the unlocked overtime rewards have not processed yet, our main backend developer is working on this and these rewards should be distributed to everyone soon!

Summer Event Update!

As we enter into the home stretch of our Summer Festivities event, we have an important event update to announce!

The end of the event will be extended by 24 hours!
As of this post, the event timer will be updated to reflect this change. 

Due to some staff work schedules shifting for this coming weekend, the end of the event will need to be extended in order to ensure that our main backend dev is able to be online during the final moments of the event where the site processes all final scores and awards. While not initially planned for, we hope that this extra time will give everyone a last minute opportunity to keep working on their scores and tier placements!

QUICK EVENT END INFORMATION
  • When the event timer hits "0 seconds left to help!", the event will close and automatically shift into processing all scores and reward data. It should take approximately 1 minute for everything to process, after which you may visit the event page to view your rewards!
  • All successfully unlocked overtime rewards will be automatically added onto your event rewards - everyone who participated in the event will receive these overtime items!
  • In order to update the site with new content associated with the ending of the event, we'll need to have a short maintenance downtime period at 12:30am DV time on September 6th (~30 minutes after the event ends). This should be quick, lasting approximately 15-20 minutes or less!
  • As a reminder to everyone, the Shimmering Embers event items will extinguish at the end of the event! Be sure to use them up for some easy Item Alchemy rewards, if you'd like, before they're wiped from player inventories.
