Hey! I have ample experience in community moderation/administration as well as discord moderation in particular. I had a few questions before I consider applying, if you're open to answering them here!

Do you compensate your discord moderators in any way? What's the minimum weekly activity requirement? Are there any specific time slots you're looking to have filled? And, most importantly, do you hold interviews for approved potential team members, how do you conduct them if so, and what's the best time for them?

I highly reccommend some form of compensation or recognition for discord mods. And please listen to our suggestions regarding the server itself.

good luck to all applicants! i've been considering applying but i think i have to prove to myself i can make time for it *sweats*

please consider compensating mods for their work in some way, like i dunno recognizing discord mods as site staff.. the mod team is really stretched thin and it's really just volunteer work, the least you could do is acknowledge their efforts

are you gonna treat them better? at least recognize them as staff here? also I hope you hire a decent amount because the current load is insane for the amount you originally hired.

Considering their are only 14 mod/training mods for a userbase of over 1k daily. You should aim to get more stable site staff.

Why are you bolstering your off site 3rd party line of communication instead of getting more mods on-site and linking questions asked in discord to information found on the site?
  • Villager Varinis (#2245) 19 Jul 2020, 1:32 pm
moif (#40839) I imagine that even if the chat were strictly on the DV Website, it would still need moderators. More over they would want or need a live chat to be coded from scratch in order to have a live chat, which is what Discord is. Plus Discord is Free so it's not like Dappervolk would need to pay to upkeep the Discord Server they have. If they had a Live Chat on the site, it'd take up bandwidth and server space and probably break at some point anyway.

Oh, I might apply for Discord moderator!
  • Villager Chi (#8359) 19 Jul 2020, 1:25 pm
echoing what benoir asked, i have also always wondered why there are site mods and discord mods are two separate groups
  • Villager Roxy_Lalonde (#34545) 19 Jul 2020, 1:23 pm
It'd be good if discord mods got no perks or on-site payment, so there's no disadvantages in compare to regular players and no abusing of power. All in all, I hope a lot of people will apply/get accepted and we'd get a big family of mods to love <3

Good luck to all the applicants :) Excited to see whose interested in joining the team!

How about recruiting site mods that you can also assign to moderate your offsite chat? I never understood having isolated "discord police unit" style moderation. Part of Site morderations job is moderating users.. Why not just include your official server in those duties?
  • Community Manager Elkcrown (#3063) 19 Jul 2020, 1:00 pm
"Reporting & addressing minor user misconduct."

this implies that discord mods do not actually have the power to DEAL with user misconduct (i.e muting, kicking, or banning users). Is that right?

Good luck to everyone applying. Glad you're getting a few more helping hands.
