Hey there, looks like you just wandered in. Why not have a look around and stay for a while, maybe even start your own adventure, if you're into that.

An Eerie Wind...

A strange air settles in swirling eddies in the nooks and crannies of the Port. Hailing from some strange far away land, a whisper and a chuckle echoes in the dark.

    Amazing!!

I'm still complaining about the prices. This is insane. Especially when we already have the frog pond as a currency sink.

WHO thought this was a good idea?

Actually veto-ing this part of the event.

    Hard Pass. No.

Might buy some of the stuff I want on the trade market place so someone gets their money back at least.

    "Just do all the dailies!"

people have jobs, and children to take care of. This site's been out 6 years and was in beta before the reopening. If someone started playing as a teenager this game's existed long enough for them to be married with children now.

A casual dress up sim should not have a grind like this.

To me its not just that they're kind of expensive. They are, and yes, you can indeed grind potatoes to get them all with time to spare if you manage to find the free time. The halloween items used to be free. People could give out extras they got later in the year for people who had missed them. Plus, this years items are more expensive than the older items. I just don't see a good reason for that when we do in fact have the frog pond.
Anyway's that's my piece. I honestly think the items look lovely. They should not be that pricey.

Y'all dailies only take like 30mins surprised.gif But definitely if this is your first Halloween they do feel like a lot TOTAL if you've never collected any yet

Considering how greedy Staff are I don't think they're going to listen. Not like, traditionally greedy, since turnips are kinda their own thing for the premium shop and aren't transferrable (unless I missed something?)

But Greedy as in Anti Fun/ Anti Consumer.

Honestly reminds me of when Mcdonalds forgot they were McDonalds and raised the prices so much so everyone went to other fast food joints. Virtual Pet websites aren't as popular as they were in the early 2000s. Look at the user count on Mycena Cave, how Aywas is doing, Furvilla's on Maintenance Mode. I think Flight Rising is the only one that's moderately okay.

Draconis Theory shut down earlier this year.

Sites don't get to go "We Hate it when our players have fun/Grind like it's your job" like this.

Cruellinnet (#19209) IDK I would consider like, multi-hour battle-passish type games to be grind-like-its-your-job. DV is a breezy morning-coffee-before-my-job game, I don't get the big deal drool.gif
  • Villager Elfweard (#19209) 13 Oct 2026, 8:27 am
like...This doesn't affect me. I'm one of the people with millions of Potatoes in my bank and I have plenty of Beta items I can sell or do cross site trades for my Sprites on flight Rising if I'm really hurting for Cash and want the new stuff.

I really hate how greedy Dappervolk's gotten lately. They NEED to be more newbie friendly or as people get busy with life the player base is going to shrink and start causing problems when the income from Ad revenue on the theatre and turnip sales aren't paying the domain hosting bills anymore.

I don't even need to do dailies to afford everything.
  • Villager iingezo (#3807) 13 Oct 2026, 8:29 am
    OK smile.gif

I don't have an issue with currency sinks. I do have an issue of taking what little new free player content we get and sticking it behind a currency sink. Seasonal stuff should be fun to earn.
  • Villager Elfweard (#19209) 13 Oct 2026, 8:40 am
plus if people put up with this and just tell everyone to go do their dailies it normalizes price gouging like this and encourages the staff to do it more...

Currency sinks are fine, like I said we already have the frog pond. But this is stupid, greedy, anti-newbie, and personally goes against the entire point of halloween since the whole holiday is about handing out treats.

We need to put up a fuss or they're going to do it again and possibly price gouge us more.

Fun Facts! Unless I particularly messed up the calculations, the cost of all the items availably in this shop is 1,605k potatoes assuming you are new and missing all the items.
That’s a little under the amount of potatoes it would take to buy 178 oran monthly items! As monthly items are always 9k, the cheapest new item for this year, the fluorescent skeleton worth 30k, is worth a bit moré than three oran items; the most expensive being the broken lamp worth 150k potatoes would be worth a bit more than 16 oran monthly items! That would be a full monthly set with a few spare, which is quite a lot for an item that will return next year as opposed to a set that will not.
In addition, items of prior years were free! In fact I remember that previous halloween items were so plentiful that you would get many spares and would have to find excuses to give them away!
Go forth with your new knowledge.

I like the new items but why are they so expensive? Other events had a seasonal currency shop, like The Grove. I don't have a problem with potato sinks, but the prices are way inflated. I think the prices should be closer to Nico's items, like 5k-20k potatoes per item.
  • Villager Elfweard (#19209) 14 Oct 2026, 3:22 pm
    Riffle (#43723)

you and me both. This is turning into a whole debate with so many people not getting why the prices are too damn high to tell people to just do their dailies.
  • Villager meejans (#80110) 17 Oct 2026, 6:24 am
actually doing all my dailies takes me hours
I wonder what I could do to make them quicker :o

I would love to see more options for earning potato :>
