3's Forest Balancing Update!
Hello everyone, hope you're doing well! This is our 3's Forest Balancing Update! This update includes a rebalancing of all 3's Forest daily errand quests as well as a collection of new NPC items and NPC shop adjustments.
The following updates have been applied to all 3's Forest Daily Errands.
- A reroll option with the player choice text "Can I help you with something else instead?" has been added to the beginning of each task.
- This option can be used once per quest completion to generate a new task different from the initial one.
- This option can be used once per quest completion to generate a new task different from the initial one.
- Daily Errands in 3's Forest can now be completed 3 times/day instead of 7.
- Positive quest ending potato rewards were boosted, increasing daily potato gains from each errand by about 2400 potatoes.
- Affection gained or lost has been increased to be equal to doing 7 quests previously.
- Tasks have been adjusted according to the reduced number of dailies each day. Some higher effort tasks such as adventuring have stayed the same or been reduced for better balancing.
- Conecake rewards were increased. Dual-stat NPC's now give out a random assortment of two types of conecakes instead of one.
- Dialogue has been compressed to fewer total text boxes to lessen clicks.
- Transitions and redirects have been updated to be more streamlined and give users more freedom.
- Any 3's Forest daily quests that were in progress have been autocompleted so that users don't get stuck due to the quest changes.
A total of 93 new items have been released!
New items have arrived in each NPC's chance shop, the following shop stock adjustments have been made:
- A Bonus Prize pool with claims costing an equivalent of 10 spins has been added to each NPC's shop.
- Totems, Pen Expansions, and Wardrobe Expansions, have been moved to each NPC's Bonus Prize pool in their shop instead of being in the chance pool.
- 1-2 newly drawn items have been added to each NPC's clothing set, each item with colourations matching that of the existing sets.
- An additional 4th set colour has been added for each NPC, and can be found in their chance shop stock as well as bonus prizes.
- Pet Hatching items and NPC food have been added to the bonus prize pool as well while keeping them in the chance pool.
- Two new pet species have been released with this update!
- One is a quaint pet species which can be obtained from Magdalene's shop's bonus prize pool.
- Another is a fantastical pet species with a brand new recipe available in Officiator's Record Office.
- These two pets were wished for in the Wishing Well by Heli (#17512) and patpatity (#52179)!
The following non-general changes and additions have been applied to the NPC's Quests & Item Pools below:
- Trout's farming shoe task hand-in pools have been expanded.
- Irin's sprite calming task has been changed to equipping an Irin item and giving the sprites a gift. Equipping Magdalene's lamps is not longer a requirement for either the positive or negative tasks.
- Magdalene's advertisement task has been adjusted to equipping a lantern and completing a daily errand with any other NPC. The negative affection route for this task has been adjusted to you demanding potatoes from Magdalene.
- Magdalene's potato task requirements have been increased to having 15k potatoes on hand instead of 7k.
- Magdalene's helping irin task's negative route has been adjusted to be completing an errand for Irin by upsetting them.
- Barclay's pet totem equipping task has been expanded to larger pools of totems that Barclay either considers heroic or villainous. The task now also requires 2 pet interactions after making sure the right totem is equipped.
- Barclay's hero cape task equipment pools have been expanded.
Heroic Training with Barclay Quest Adjustments
This repeatable quest is part of the 3's Forest witches' main storyline, we've made some changes to it to give newbies an easier time getting through this portion of the story and unlock the next town. The following changes have been made:
- The quest can be completed 3 times a day instead of 7 times, with scaled up rewards such as increased potatoes, conecakes, and NPC affection.
- It should now take just 2-3 days to gain enough affection to advance the story quest instead of up to a week.
- 2 Additional tasks were added to boost the variety available: Interact with a pet, Alchemize an item
- Mycel's riddle task has been reduced from 5 to 3 riddles.
- Mycel's glowshroom pet task has been adjusted to also require 2 pet interactions.
- Mycel's concoction task ingredient pools have been expanded.
- Mycel's totem task's negative affection route has been changed from requiring pet affection gain to pet interaction.
Glamours with Mycel Quest Adjustments
This repeatable quest is part of the 3's Forest witches' main storyline, we've made some changes to it to give newbies an easier time getting through this portion of the story and unlock the next town. The following changes have been made:
- The quest can be completed 3 times a day instead of 7 times, with scaled up rewards such as increased potatoes, conecakes, and NPC affection.
- It should now take just 2-3 days to gain enough affection to advance the story quest instead of up to a week.
- 2 Additional tasks were added to boost the variety available: Alchemize an item, Complete a Daily Bonus Task
- Glume's pet showing task has been adjusted to also require 2 pet interactions.
- Glume's clothing task pools have been expanded for both positive and negative routes.
Gaining Glume's Favor Quest Adjustments
This repeatable quest is part of the 3's Forest witches' main storyline, we've made some changes to it to give newbies an easier time getting through this portion of the story and unlock the next town. The following changes have been made:
- The quest can be completed 3 times a day instead of 7 times, with scaled up rewards such as increased potatoes, conecakes, and NPC affection.
- It should now take just 2-3 days to gain enough affection to advance the story quest instead of up to a week.
- 2 Additional tasks were added to boost the variety available: Interact with a pet, Create a trade
Several adjustments have been also made to the Louise Hill dailies after getting feedback for their balancing update, read about them in this changelog!
- This is the second installment of daily quest balancing! We are releasing these updates town by town in order to eventually balance all existing towns.
- With the addition of new items as well as bonus prize pools for NPC shops, we're aiming to make it so that certain items are obtained by choice rather than by chance. For example, the pen expansions were being dropped too often and filling up inventories without any purpose, now they can be picked up only if the user wants one.
- The bonus prize and shop stock updates have opened up the possibility of adding new items more easily to NPC shops in the future within smaller content updates.
