Hey there, looks like you just wandered in. Why not have a look around and stay for a while, maybe even start your own adventure, if you're into that.

Trout's Spring Festivities!

Hello, Beta testers!
Thanks to our many Kickstarter backers, a stretch goal was unlocked
that gave us the resources to debut our event system during Beta. As
such, we are happy to announce that this feature is ready for testing!

turnip.gif EVENT DETAILS turnip.gif
We are excited to finally introduce you to our first major test event, Trout's Spring Festivities - a cooperative sitewide event that will run for about 3 weeks, which features some lovely seasonal prizes, as well as a few carry-over prizes! Yes, that means that some prizes will carry over with your account to official launch, as was promised in our Kickstarter stretch goal. The event's objectives, duration, and prizes will be detailed below, so be sure to read over it before you head over to the event hub page to begin playing and testing this new feature!

turnip.gif OBJECTIVES & DURATION turnip.gif
This event requires the community to work together to earn points toward a cumulative goal. The site's progress toward this goal will be displayed through the event progress bar, indicating how close we are to reaching the event total needed to successfully complete the event. The community will have a set amount of time to reach this goal, which is shown below and on the event page itself.

If the community can successfully earn enough points before the end date, everyone will receive the prizes that they qualify for on the event page! However, if the community fails to complete the objective in the available time, players will receive consolation prizes for their participation. In the future, we would like to also have the successes or failures of these cooperative events result in different impacts on the world and lore of Dappervolk!

turnip.gif EVENT PRIZES turnip.gif
The seasonal nature of this event means that a majority of the event's rewards will only be obtainable through participation in this yearly event! The event's main rewards are distributed through a tiers system, where players must reach the indicated points threshold to qualify for the next higher prize tier. Additionally, a high score board will display your score placement amongst other players, as a special grand prize will be awarded to those within the top 25% of scores earned during the event!

Prizes include an event trophy and a new spring themed clothing set, which features a brand new class of wearable clothing that was unlocked via stretch goal by our Kickstarter backers - animated items!

This set contains one animated wearable as a rare, special reward
for those who achieve the top 25% of most points earned.

Which Prizes Carry Over to Official Launch?
All players that earn an event trophy from this event will get to keep their trophy as a thank you for helping to test run our first major event in beta! Additionally, grand prize winners that earned themselves the elusive animated item will get to keep that reward as well.

I just wanted to throw my two cents into this.

I loved the event! I think it was smooth and easy to do. I gave me a reason to be on every few hours to do the activities. It was easy to hit gold for me even though I work over 40 hours a week and have a family to take care of. Just a quick five to ten minutes every hour or so to get the actives done and then back to real life.

I think a few adjustments here and there could be done but overall it was fun and would love to see it again after Beta. Thank you to the staff for make it!

Overall I'm satisfied with how the event went! I started late and did start school towards the end, but I still managed to hit Gold and stay within the top 150. I'm really glad it's looking like the bar is going to be filled! I think we really can thank God for filling it though... I'm not sure if it is just due to the number of beta participants, but understandably, the number of total points for the bar may need to be reworked in the future, as this was a super close call.

Thank you DV staff for hosting a beta event, regardless! It did bring me back to being active on the site once again, and I did enjoy the time I've been active once again. I think events can be a great way to keep the site active once beta is completed.

I think DV should’ve sent emails to get more participation. I can’t believe less than 3k users participated of over 18k. Glad I was able to get the gold tier and to the top 25%~

I've been stuck between 700-730th place for the past few days. There's no way I will get to the top 25% :(

Just started today, but I'm going to do my best to at least get to the silver tire.

This event clearly didn't already rustle enough jimmies, so you went ahead and added tiers to the trophies as well.

i'm really late to the party (feels like i'm always saying this).. so what do i do? how can i help?
  • Villager Nightblade (#18360) 20 Aug 2018, 2:39 pm
I don't really like the way they did it, I really doubt I'll get silver rank, DX

I now have over 10k points, and it didn't turn out to be that difficult to earn those points since I can stay online almost 24/7, otherwise I have no idea if I'd have been able to reach the Gold and Elite Carry-Over tiers. Although I suppose I can't just stop doing the tasks if I want to stay in the top 25% and help fill the bar so all of us can get our rewards instead of the consolation prize.

Still think this event needs to be reworked, though, so I'm happy that Staff is listening to our concerns. ;)

WELP RIP I'm late. There goes my chances.
Was mandatory evacuated due to wildfires and just returned to internet using civilization.

I am very disappointed to learn that the event ends the moment the bar is filled. The set-up of this event is already tailored to people who have the time to check in regularly throughout the entire day (due to those cooldowns), and now even more so. Because the quicker they work, the less rewards the other people get.

Very sad and disappointed about this. I understand this is beta and we're all testing things, but I really hope the staff takes our concerns seriously when designed future events.

I'm actually participating and in the top 25%, it's not that hard to do if you're not late to the event. But I still wish that the carry over prizes would be a more cooperative thing instead of competitive.

I'm back to comment again because I'm so shocked! I assumed that we had until the 31st to get points and I wasn't too worried because I did the math based on my pace and figured I could get 10k by August 30th. Seemed pretty fair that to get the best prizes you had to work the whole event time. I was willing and was going to do it, and while my pace isn't top 100 fast, it has definitely kept me within the top 25%. Even with school I've been managing well. However, upon discovering that the event ends when the bar fills, I started to panic. I know that might be a little overreaction, but it's stressful now. I realise that the only way to possibly make it to gold tier is to check my phone whenever possible, and that's just not me. I don't spend all day on the internet and it seems like that's what you have to do! I'm currently at around 2200 points. Very stressed because the top ten are already at silver tier and I don't expect they'll stop once they get to gold, effectively making it much more stressful for people like me who aren't on all day because there are a finite number of points. No ill feeling to them of course! I just think the system could be a little better. Like I said, it seemed pretty fair that a decent pace would get me the full amount of points I needed right at the end of the event, because it still requires effort, but not so much effort that it takes time from me that I could be using to cultivate talents, do schoolwork, study, run errands, etc. I hope things will change with future events! I am fully aware that this is beta, and I know that there are going to be issues!! That's why it's beta, right? We're testing for a reason. Personally I have no issue with the staff participating so long as they win fairly like the rest of us. They're not "stealing" the prizes, they're earning them. Anyways that's all! The prizes are really cute :)

I think the people complaining about things not carrying over to live are forgetting that the point of hosting this event in beta is to test how well the event will carry over to live, not to gain exclusive items. So no, you're not being cheated out of anything. Complaining about hardcore goers getting more stuff for choosing to sink their time and effort into the event reads like you want stuff but don't want to work for it, which is...? You're not being punished for being casual. The people who chose not to be are just being rewarded for it.

That said I do think staff needs to take into consideration that only very few people will be able to commit their all into events like these. A few tweaks to numbers should do some good in the future.
